Hey all! I am trying to separate a part of this dress, and make a sort of a bolero. Everything was well until I got in CAS, when I noticed a bit of clipping. Now, I'm not sure what I did wrong, as I more or less just separated the top/collar part I wanted. It looks kinda the same as the original... And the original doesn't clip, so I'm a bit confused. Perhaps that is my mistake, and I should have done something else? No idea how to fix it tho :( Here are my Blender file and my package file, along with screenshots ( 1, 2, 3) if anyone wants to see them. Thanks for any advice in advance!

Hi. I did not check the files because this file sharing website is shady ( there was a virus warning in the past and now it just re-directs to a different website without giving the files) But anyway, it is just a matter of differences between the original dress and the current top. If you were to make the nude top visible, you'd see that the bolero does not align with it, there is a gap. A portion of it is also vertex painted with a different color.
To remove the gap, you'd want to snap its vertices to the nearest vertices/surface of the top and re-transfer weights and uvs. But then if you will try to use this bolero with something that is not identical to the nude top, the same problem will re-occur. So if you want to use it with a specific outfit, its best to just frankenmesh them into a new item.
If you're going to do it, its best to cut out the mesh like this because then you can merge it with the body in one click and not re-do vertex paint, uv_1 and weights

Thank you so much for the explanation, and sorry for the slow reply. Okay, so, if I understood correctly, it's not actually possible to do it the way I thought - I wanted to completely separate it, so it is it's own thing, and can be used with any top. That's a shame, but I'll see, maybe I'll just pair it with another top, like you said. I'm not at a point where I can't really guess what is possible and what is not, and don't know my own limits, lol. Thanks again for the reply!
EDIT: I forgot to add: I had no idea that upload site was problematic. I'll find another one to use in the future.

It’s not that you can’t, it just won’t look right with everything you pair it with.
As a beginner, it’s best to not do things that maxis does not do. For example, there is no clothing among maxis accessories, so it’s best to not try to make it. The reason is not “impossible” but “won’t always work as intended”.
