I'm attempting to recolor this object FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. However, it won't open in S4S and I don't understand the error. Possible way to fix this/work around? Thanks modthesims.info/download.php?t=607176

I have this set in my game and also recolored a while ago. It opens with no issues. Have you tried to reinstall studio?

I just uninstalled and reinstalled. Same issue -- I'm not sure where I'm going wrong here. I recolor objects all the time. CC and MAXIS. I recolored a few others today as well. All turned out fine.

Do you have the laundry day pack? Is your game updated to the latest version?

Yes on both counts. I saw in the comments on MTS2 that someone else was having the same issue. But there was no answer.

Could you try repairing your game? maybe some of the laundry day files are corrupted or unreachable. This has been happening lately with the game files

This object was edited in another program. We can not guarantee that Studio would read such .packages that were altered with another program. If repairing the game files didn't help this could be the culprit.

Regardless the software being used, the rar file opens fine for me.

I repaired the game. Still no dice.
Am I opening the file it incorrectly?
Step by step: I download the RAR. Extract the files. Place the extracted .packages into the S4S mods folder. I open S4S and select object>standalone recolor. I click either the washer or dryer. Name the new package... and then the error message.

You are creating a standalone recolor when we were just opening the package. I, too, am getting the error when trying to create a recolor, so the file must have been edited in a different software.
Since you are recoloring this item for personal use only, put it in electronic arts\the sims 4\mods, open the package with My projects and add swatches.

It's not that the packages were created/edited in another program, but that the creator messed it up. If you still want to create standalone recolors, then: 1. Open either of the two packages. 2. Warehouse > Model > Data > LODs — Edit Items. 3. Remove the Shadow lines. 4. Save the package and close S4S. 5. Repeat for the second package.
