Hello everybody. Basically, my question is: why do strange seams appear almost on every hairstyle as I zoom out? (it varies, can be a considerably long distance for the seams to appear, in other cases, they show up without zooming out that much). Usually, the seams are sort of bald spots through which a Sims's scalp is seen (so, if a white sim has dark hair it's very visible, and vice versa). Some of the most notorious examples are bunLargeHigh from the Base Game and the slick hairstyle for males from Parenthood (there's a seam on the back of the head). Actually, the issue is observable on 99% of all the Maxis Hairstyles. Just check out the two I listed above in the Studio. My settings are max, so there's no chance that it has to do with my configuration. I only have one idea: EA cannot really create their hairstyles the proper way. Am I right? Or is there a slight chance that despite all I said the problem's in my PC? It really bothers me.

Hi. Unless you have some type of overrides, this is a problem with your graphic card or settings. This is what bunLargeHigh looks like in my game ( ignore the spikes). Start by disabling mods and scenarios, then restart the game and check again to make sure it is not caused by something in your mods folder

Hello, mauvemorn.
Thank you for responding.
My settings are max, disabling mods and CC didn't do anything. My graphics card is NVIDIA 1050 and it doesn't manifest any performance or visualizing issues. I'm pretty sure it's Maxis' fault.
By the way, I see that the settings on your screens are low. However, you can see two blackish vertical lines on the third one. That's what I'm talking about. For the issue to be more evident, you can just check it in the Sims 4 Studio, choose the black swatch and see it yourself as you zoom out (just try the angle equal to that from my screen).
There's also a white gap between the scalp and the bun on your third screen - it is a missing texture, the snow can be seen shining through it.

Oh, I was expecting somethings severe. That’s just what happens when the polycount is reduced. When you remove extra edge loop, the uv islands become bigger or smaller. When the camera zooms out, the textures shrink to improve the performance. They do not bother to adjust all Uv islands to perfection because by the time the game switches to lod2, one can barely see anything. the scalp not matching the head is straight up half adding, though.
However, I find it rather strange that you can see lod2 on the highest settings close enough for that to be a noticeable issue. Do you perhaps have a very big screen?

My screen is 1920x1080. I suppose it's my good eyesight that makes me see all these imperfections. I can see them while still on lod1 (maybe zooming 15-25 meters away is enough for it to be visible, but the worst ones, one of them being the bun, show it at a rather close distance), though. I used to play having my sims wearing any hairstyle of any color, but now I usually go blond for my white sims and black for my dark-skinned ones so that the issue is not that noticeable. Actually, there are some really decent non-alpha CC hairstyles that don't have the issue even when the hair contrasts with a Sims' skin, so I think it's just really improper work by Maxis. You can see the issue on the in-game screen I attached (the brunette sim, wearing the Eco Lifestyle hair with those metallic streaks). Thank you for having satisfied my curiosity and having dispelled my doubts. I just needed to know that I wasn't the only one having the issue.
