Hi, I've been making skins for a while now and never came across a problem like this before. All my skins look really weird and splotchy and parts of it are missing. Even the skins that used to work before all look like this: imgur.com/a/IorwLIV.package file

Hi. The last patch broke the file format used for skins, s4s developers are yet to figure out how to fix this issue, so it is best to do something that does not use LRLE (or to do this skin “blindly”, as in without checking in ts4)

If you are currently in work of a making skin cc and need to preview in game, I have a temporary solution. If you still have old packages that uses format DXT5 (BC3), save your DDS files in this format and import to that kind of package.

Could you please explain how to specify what format to save the file as? Thank you!

Keep your original work either in .psd or .psb and alter your texture there, not in DDS files.
File -> Save As -> DDS. NVIDIA window will be popped up as always. There are multiple formats to pick. Your default is probably set as "8.8.8.8 BGRA | unsigned" I guess, as S4Studio was supporting skins and some other textures in this format recently. Change it to "BC3 RGBA | interpolated alph"a and save.
Go to S4Studio and open a relatively old skin package from mods. Recent ones support 8.8.8.8 BGRA. If you get this B8G8R8A8 warning when you import, look for an older package. No warning == you are done.
Such old skin packages I am talking about are supposed to give warning: "Your texture must be saved with BC3/DXT5 compression" when you import an unsupported format file.
Since we cannot generate a body package that supports BC3/DXT5 (at least I don't know how to), I won't be uploading my skins yet. But mine is a temporary solution for ones that would like to view their textures without "weird noises" in game.
I have seen many B8G8R8A8 skin files that currently work perfectly in game. Probably there are better tricks to avoid this issue.

Hello again. Another trick I just found, but don't forget that once you use BC3 format original file will be compressed. After you save as BC3 format, resave this DDS as 8.8.8.8 BGRA and import to any generated package. Problem solved. You don't have to deal with old packages.
