TLDR, trying to force an object in live mode to let players select the object's other swatches as well as clone it with the eye dropper. Currently not possible.
The object is a copy of the Eco Life Style Molded Candle (leCandle_EP09GenrectangleTall_forCarving) which I'm using as a single candle to make a set of Hogwarts-style floating candles. Imported the AOM candle object tuning (thank you for the tutorial, OM!), updated the _fx_ position, all that, and the candles look great, I just can't select the candle's other swatch in live mode from an already-placed copy, I have to go back to the catalog and place another one, and select the swatch then. And can't clone it (says nothing's clone-able).
I checked the catalog option ForceDesign thinking that would do it. I'm usually fairly good at poking around until I get things to work, but this one is stumping me. Please don't tell me I should have used another candle object :(
Any help would be great.

I notice the problem happens the second I batch import the object source from the AOM candle object tuning. I'm going a different route than the tutorial. Rather than batch importing the object tuning, I exported the tuning, added a blank new tuning entry to my new object, and imported just the tuning, and now my object's both clonable and I have access to its other swatches.
Edit: It even happened when I switched objects (to the Smoresworthy candelabra). I'm using that one now to build from.

Okay, this is interesting. Not sure how this is working (actually I have no idea why this is working) given what I read in the tutorial for making candles, but I discovered that I don't have to create a new object tuning to modify the flames of a candle. This is a modified mesh of the Smoresworthy candle (removing the holder) and changing the object's height. All I did in S4S after importing the modified meshes and textures was set the transform bone height in the rigging. Done.
I'm using a version of this in my Sims4Studio mods folder as the basis for all of the rest, being sure I selectively clone the footprint so I can share this with others. I've several more to make so I have a collection of varying heights, and I still must go into Blender for each one to adjust the mesh and transform bone heights, but this is far, far easier than what I was attempting before, and the candles are now both clonable and their swatches are selectable. I set them up as a barricade above just to see if Sims would walk under them and they do.
If anyone's curious this is the object displayed above. The "2.5" in the name is the elevation in Blender that I set the candles to. It's located in the catalog under Table Lights for 2 simoleans with +2 to the eco stats. When I'm done I'll merge it in with the rest that I make.
