This is probably an idiotic question. I apologise in advance for being stupid but I can't seem to import blend files from 3.2 into 2.76 and have S4S read them properly.
I used 2.7 for the longest time but the limited tools and features drove me nuts. I desperately wanted to use the new Correct Face Attributes feature to preserve my UV maps when manipulating meshes (introduced in 2.9, I believe) so I installed both 2.76 and 3.2 to have the best of both worlds. I figured I could work with my meshes in 3.2, import them into 2.76, then import that into S4S.
My problem arises when trying to import the blend files. I have read other threads in this forum on how to do that and the instructions to open the original mesh in 2.76 then append the mesh from 3.2 does not work for me. The 3.2 mesh is either unclickable or I click on it and no object folder shows up for me to select.
I have also tried copy/pasting the 3.2 mesh into 2.76. This does work; however, when I try to import that mesh into S4S, I get an error popup. I have made sure all cut numbers are correct when doing this.
I've even rolled back to 2.9 which is the earliest version that has the feature I want. I'm able to append the 2.9 mesh into 2.76 but again, I get an error when importing that mesh into S4S.
I'm really sorry, I don't know why I'm having such problems doing what seems to be a simple task. Any help is appreciated.

Hi. With the release of blender 3, some things were changed, so this whole process no longer works as intended, the weights are not preserved. You should try exporting the mesh as fbx, this should preserve everything but vertex paint
