I've been trying to make my first recolour (first on photoshop and then switched to GIMP), but when I try to import it, I get an error message that says the image is 1016x848 and needs to be 1024x2048, but whenever I open it in GIMP it lists it as 1024x2048. How can I fix this? I'm new to CC and GIMP so I don't know if I'm missing something.

I opened it in Photoshop, and get the 1016x848 size, as if all the transparent parts around the visible parts of the texture have been cropped.
The transparent (or non-colored, depending on how it shows up) parts are needed, so make sure you don't crop the image. Keep the original size and shape of the image.
If you havent cropped the image, maybe there's something wrong with the DDS formatting or saving options you've used in Gimp? Worth checking.
