Hi, I'm making a mask using normal map for the detail. I have followed the tutorial to convert normal map to Sims 4 format (R to Alpha, G to R & B, save as DDS BC3/DXT5) I have used normal map for my other creation & it works as expected, but this one just doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know a solution for this? Thanks.
I'm using Sims4Studio v3.1.6.2 (Wishes) The base item is the halloween robot mask

Hi. I can’t check the file right now but: 1). Make sure you are checking the file on the highest graphics settings in ts4. Normal maps are not rendered on the lowest ones; 2). Clone the same item you did to start this package, export its normal map and study it. Your normal map should show the same exact area of the uv space
Edit: yes, the normal map is not focused on the right region. Clone a hijab, export the normal map, crop yours the same way, import into this package, not the original one

Hi, sorry for the late reply 1. I've tried setting all the graphic to very high and still not showing normal map 2. I redone this CC using the hijab as the base package, followed all the uv space & resolution. Still no normal map showing
Can you please check, maybe I missed something. Thanks

Hm, strange. It does not show for me as well. - create 3d mesh, CAS, type « buzz » in the search bar, clone a buzz cut; - import your mesh and textures there; - Warehouse tab, select CAS part, in the search bar to the right type « exclude », type « 8 » into ExcludePartFlags (you can exclude the hair as well, just find something that does); - recategorize it as a hat or something else;
- it works for me
Also, you can incorporate the normal map into the diffuse. In photoshop/photopea it is done like this:
- open the dds normal map, create a clipping mask, copy-paste the alpha channel, save as png; - open your diffuse,File - Place the png normal map, change blending mode to Overlay or whatever option looks best to you

Hi, thanks for the reply. Strangely it's still not showing up for me even after I follow your instruction. I'll try experimenting with other EA mesh to see which one works. I've seen the normal map overlay trick from other sources before and have used it on my finished diffuse map. Was hoping the normal map would give some extra kick to the mesh if it works, seems like I'll stick with just the diffuse map for now. Thanks for all the help :D

So you clone the first buzz cut in the list and import the same normal map as in the latest package you shared?

Yep, I tried using the latest normal map & I even tried the old normal map and it's still not showing.
Edit: Here's something weird.
Still using the buzz cut as original mesh, I tried changing the categories to Glasses (last time where normal map is showing is when I make glasses) and the normal map magically appear in CAS. The latest normal map doesn't fit the glasses correct so I tried using the original normal map at it show up all good
Weird indeed.
Edit 2: After further tinkering, I'm going without the normal map since it's not as good as i expected with the normal map. I'm marking this as solved. Thanks for all the help
