need help with accessory uv mapping

i'm very new to blender and im trying to edit one of the collars from cats and dogs to work on humans, i added the star thing through adding a new mesh in blender and editing that then merged it onto the s4s mesh i exported. while trying to figure out how to add the star onto the texture map i found this: sims4studio.com/thread/4324 tutorial and followed the uv mapping part. anyway it unwrapped into a confusing looking uv map but i can work with that so thats not the issue. 

problem is the star i added only shows up as a single dot in the texture and so i cant texture it

how do i fix this?

EDIT: i fixed the other issues in the blender file and its working in game just fine. still got the uv mapping issue though
