Whenever I run any action in Photoshop, the action removes all transparency when it completes. When I instead select the areas I'd like the action to apply to, the background then turns white. Preserving transparency does nothing. I don't know what I'm missing. How do I use actions and keep the transparent background? I'm using a .DDS image.

I had this same problem with every action I used and I wasn't able to solve it. But maybe you could remove the step in the action that flattens the image (or something to that effect) if there is one. I know one of the ones I used had that and removing it solved the problem.

I don't know if I understand it, but I use 2 files: 1) photoshop file (.psd) with my work layers. 2) the .dds file. In this way I can continue modifying in the future and I always open the .psd and when I finish I export it as .dds

I tried removing flatten image. It didn't work for me, sadly.

EDIT: I may have semi-solved the issue with transparency. Select all opaque areas, remove flatten image from the action playlist (It actually does work if you pre-select the areas to apply actions to beforehand), then run the action. But this isn't always 100% effective, so if anyone has any better ideas I'd love to know.
