This isn't exactly a "mod", more a bunch of overrides, but I'm at my wits end trying to figure this out. I've followed the tutorials on this site to no avail. I should mention I'm using version 1.4.2.6 (Aurora) for Mac.
So, I'm trying to remove certain color swatches from certain items, both objects and CAS parts.
When it comes to the objects, I've tried not only removing the swatches by simply opening the item, hitting "Remove Swatch", and saving, but also changing the swatch-associated "Object Catalog" "DevCategoryFlags" to 00000081. I even tried deleting the related "DST Image" and "Object Definition" entries. But the swatches and the recolors still show up in-game. The only success I've had is if I change EVERY swatch to 00000081, which hides the object from the catalog entirely, but for some objects I just want to get rid of a single swatch. What it has done is changed the default swatch if the default one is the one I want to get rid of (e.g. there's a door I wanted to delete the main swatch of; the swatch is still there but the game catalog defaults to the next one).
I'm also having the same issue with CAS items. I can remove entire clothing parts from certain categories (e.g. changing one of the dresses from Life & Death not to appear in the "masculine" category), or hide a clothing part entirely from CAS (for all age groups/genders), but I can't hide a single swatch. I've tried only changing the categories for that specific swatch as well as the "Remove Swatch" option, and even deleting the "CAS Part" entry. But they still show up in-game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently had a bug with swatches, I had items that each had a SINGLE SWATCH that would never update when I changed them. I had to create a new swatch, and then remove the old one to have them refresh. Weird bug. Don't know if it's related or if creating ALL new swatches and deleting all older swatches will work for you as it did for me.
