I cloned the Spa Day incense, but whenever my sim uses it (every other time, it's really annoying and unrealistic), it gets on fire and burns stuff around it. Is there a way I can remove the fire possibility for this single object? Thanks.

Yes, I already made one like that for my game since I found it annoying too. You need to make a tuning mod. If you want it I can just share the one I made after making sure it still works following the last patch.

Thank you, but actually, I'd rather if I could learn how to do it, since I'll probably need it again in the future and to get the hang of this tuning busines, it seems fun. I took a look at your tutorial for basic tuning and I think I figured it out. I deleted the line <T>39478<!--FireState_Burn_Incinerate_Burning--></T> whenever I saw it, 4 or 5 times, and so far no fire. Is that it?

Wait there actually is a chance that the incense can cause a fire? OrangeMittens, while mountain.top might not be interested in said tuning file, I would very much apprechiate it.

I'll make sure it's working with the new patch and post it in my Creator Studio unless mountain.top is planning on sharing theirs. The first time I ever placed the incense holder in my game it set my kitchen on fire :P

It catches fire almost every time in my game, the last time it burnt some pictures my sim took and I couldn't replace them so I thought I could do something about it or never use it again. But go ahead, orangemittens, and share your file. Mine is not actually an incense, I cloned it to make another object. I would like, though, if someone could confirm that I deleted the right lines in the XML? Although it seems to have worked so far, I'm afraid I may have messed something up.

I must say, I am slightly shocked to read this. While I placed incense burners in many of my houses, I only ever used them on day spa lots until now, so I wasn't even aware of the danger. I simply assumed them to be just as safe as their Sims3 counterparts. I am very much looking forward to that tuning mod and until then ... no incense burning on any private lots for my sims.

If you've used it a few times and nothing happened, I don't know what to say. In my case it was hard to ignore, it was really almost every time, lol, and in any lot, in any town. If it doesn't happen to you than maybe you're safe for some reason, some individual game differences? I don't even know if that can happen, but...

Lol, this is funny. I haven't played to much the actual game besides creating stuff for it. But, good to know that item is quite dangerous. Guess there's nothing "zen" about it.

Hello! I am trying to make a mod like this myself but so far have had no luck. I have done what AnnArchy suggested and removed the '<T>39478<!--FireState_Burn_Incinerate_Burning--></T>' lines from the incense burner Object xml files. It did not change anything at all. Would anybody be able to offer pointers on how exactly to lower/remove the chance of fires. Orangemittens, if you still have a working (or even outdated) mod for this, I would love to take a look at it if possible. Thanks!

Hello. As I know a little more about tuning mods now than I did back in june, I can at least tell you that the FireState.... lines don't have anything to do with the object causing a fire. They define what the object is supposed to look like when burning, scorched or reduced to a pile of ash and almost every object has them. The bit which is responsible for the incense burner causing a fire is hidden in the Incense_Lit xml. I am not entirely sure if you can simply remove the link to the broadcaster (which would be elegant) or if you have to remove the state change from each Light_(Incencetype) interaction tuning - but I can look into it later on.

Hi Anska. Thanks for your answer. Actually I searched for files with the name broadcaster that you mentioned in it, and found a file that I did not notice earlier. It is called "broadcaster_Incense_causefire.xml" and, if I understand the code correctly, there are entries to tune 3 things: the tile radius that the game checks for flammable objects, the frequency at which the game checks and the probability that a fire will start at each check. This last number was set to 0.25, which I interpret as meaning that each time the game checks for flammable objects and find one, there's a 1 in 4 chance of fire. No wonder there are fires all the time!! I changed this number to 0.001. I am still testing the mod but so far so good, no fires!

Yes that sounds about right =) I am glad it worked for you and it gives me an excellent idea, how to test this new firealarm I made ...
