I'm creating a few TS2 to TS4 conversions of my own meshes, and I'm wondering if there's a way to clone a custom mesh in S4S. When I click "Create 3D mesh" in the "object" section, only the ingame objects show up, and there's no option for cloning an out-of-game mesh that I can see.
I'm asking because I'm converting some previously "slaved" meshes (for those of you who haven't been around TS2 much - they use different meshes but use the same textures), and it's so much hassle having to do the whole cloning and then adding meshes/textures. It would be so much easier just to do it once, then clone the file and only change the meshes.
I'm also wondering what the best/easiest way to make LOD1 and LOD2 meshes in Blender is. I've tried a few methods using a few of the modifiers in Blender, but they end up with holes and other deformities.
Also, is there a way to change how objects can be placed (as in, if I clone a small object and only want it to be placeable on the floor - is there a way to change this without having to clone a large object)?
So far I've only done TS4 to TS2 conversions, so I'm new to the other way around (made my first 2t4 conversion today, but haven't tested it yet). I'm also a noob at Blender, but slowly learning, so if there are any picture tutorials or easy-to-follow text tutorials explaining the above, that'd be great (I know how to mesh in other programs, but Blender's interface makes my brain spin, so pictures would be nice).
Thanks for any help

Hello. HERE is a tutorial about custom content cloning. The tutorial is for making a Standalone Recolor, but it should work if you choose "Create 3D mesh" too. To make your LOD1 and LOD2, the easiest way to do it is playing with the "Decimate" modifier in Blender. You can reduce the polycount with it. You can drag and move the bar until is something that looks good enought but is reduced in polygons. There's not a rule for all items, you need to play with it until you find something decent. You can find some tutorials about this in Blender website or Youtube, it's quite easy actually. About the object placement. Yes, you can look for the Warehouse tab and search for "Object Catalog" resource, scroll down until you see the line "SlottingBehavior". If you want your item to be placed only in the floor you need to set that to 0. 1 to have a small slot behaviur, 2 for medium and 3 for large. HERE is a tutorial about it. Good luck! If you have more questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for replying The cloning didn't clone the swatches/recolors - but it's a little better than having to do everything again. I've tried the Decimate modifier, but the results are so-and-so. I guess it doesn't work that well with meshes that are already taken so far down in poly the mesh structure kinda makes a mess of it. Now I just have to test the objects ingame to see if the slot thing worked.

hi! For the cloning, you have to use the "selective clone". On the next small window, have from "all swatches" to "catalog" ticked and then "renumber" ticked also. You'll end up with an exact clone from the original item as far as swatches and settings go but with a different ID so that you can have both items in the game at once.
