I'm working on some readable magazines and the thought came to me that it would be good to have a magazine rack that comes pre-stocked with them. I've found the bookcase tuning needed to use as a base to make my own and I can see where the pre-stocked items are listed but I don't know how to identify the ID code that relates to each book entry. I can't find these codes in the official books anywhere so I'm not sure where I should be looking. Where would I find these equivelant codes in my CC magazines?

That code i believe is the fnv32 if i remember correctly. Or it might be the decimal too. Not sure if you can do the search backwards. You can check this tutorial. I'm sorry, i always get confused with those two!

They are the decimal version of the instance number of the object definition. In the tutorial Inabadromance linked to, you can see the hashtag generator. In its top part there's a section which reads "Convert numbers". Simply put the instance number of your desired book in the Hexadecimal field and use the number which subsequently appears above. For Example "Seduction by the Sea" has the instance number 000000000000488C the decimal value of this would be 18572, so 18572 is the number you would use to link to this specific book. =)

This pic shows how to get the value you need (the example was a CAS item).

Thanks for all the help. I'll go give it a go and see if it works.
ETA: Working brilliantly, thanks!

Is there a cap to how large those decimal numbers can get? The algorithm I'm using to generate my Instance IDs is giving me a decimal number of 1153339282910400514 for my book. I added it to starting books and it isn't showing up in-game, and I'm wondering if it's just because my number's in the stratosphere.

The decimal codes that I am using are either 19 or 20 digits long and all are working perfectly well in my setup.
