Hello All, Hope all is well and everyone had a great Christmas & new year. For those who have followed my work so far, you will know I'm obsessed with making TV studios & sets. TV studio 1
TV Studio 2
TV Studio 3I've just changed my main computer back to a PC and made it a gaming computer. I'm now really keen on learning how to make custom objects. I have a set I really want to create and I want to make it so realistic! My question is, can someone point me in the right direction on where to start? I've looked at some tutorials and have downloaded programs like GIMP, BLENDER, TSR, SIMSSTUDIO but it all gets a bit confusing. be great to hear where some people started their mod creator journey. Thanks again guys! and hope to hear from you soon! Kieron

Hey, welcome to the gang! I'm afraid I'm just as new as you, but (and I'm not just saying this because we're on the S4S forums) in my research as a primarily XML modder, I found all these tools that do this or that or the other thing, only to find at the end of 12 hours researching that S4S did all those functions seamlessly together. (Not that I regret the journey, mind you - it gave me a great foundation into the process and allows the S4S program to make sense to me in a way that it just didn't when I first launched it.) One thing I noticed peripherally was that S4S seems to have Blender integrated into it? At least when I click on Create 3D Mesh in either CAS or Object, it brings up this pretty blue drawing thing that I have absolutely no idea about because I have about as much hope of being a graphic designer as I do of being a nuclear physicist. I'd be surprised if that section of the tool didn't do what you were looking for it to do.

kieron88j I'm glad you decided to start modding. What you can do, and I found it really helpful when I started here. Look into the FULL INDEX of tutorials HERE. You will find there almost every tutorial in the forum categorized by CAS, Objects, Poses, etc. And also by level of difficulty. You can start with the beginners guides to get your hands into it. Over time, you can jump into the more advanced ones. It is a long process and you can't learn it by one day. But I'm sure you can do it. jerrycnh Welcome to the forum and to the modding path! Can you give more details of the "pretty blue drawing" you get when pressing those buttons? Also, What do you want to accomplish that you guess the tool doesn't do? What I recommend you to do as Kieron is starting with the INDEX and inside of that with the beginners tutorials. If you have any questions along the road you can ask in the forum, either in the tutorial thread or opening a Creators Help thread for a specific project you are working on. Also, Studio doesn't have Blender integrated on it. You need to download it separately. Studio uses Blender for the import and export of meshes into the .package. Remember being the most detailed as possible is the best way for us to help you. If we can't understand what is happening on your PC we can't help you. Good luck both!

Hi kieron88j, if you have never made any kind of CC for a game before and you're interested in making objects, I highly recommend starting with learning to make a recolor. I suggest this because doing a recolor project will introduce you to 2D editing (making images) without bombarding you with all kinds of other tasks too. Even if you're already comfortable with a 2D editor it's still a good place to start because it will introduce you to Studio's interface. Once you have a recolor or two finished, if you want to learn to mesh, we have a tutorial that will get you started working with Blender. If you run into questions with any Studio tutorial it's fine to start a thread here for help.
Hi jerrycnh, I think you might be referring to the model in the model viewer (left hand side of the interface on the Studio tab). That is made using WPF (Microsoft code) and the game files. It is only a model and the meshes displayed there are not editable in Studio.

Hey thanks for all your replies, very helpful indeed! I'm in for a small eye operation tomorrow and then have 6 days off work so i'll use that time to learn and research more. I've done a few recolours (made my own pictures). I started a flow course on blender as well so will keep going with that too. Thanks Mathcope & Orangemittens i'll check out the tutorials on here and see if they're easy to follow. Some i've seen are quite complicated and i'm quite dab handed at computers! cheers Kieron
