I'm doing my first recolor on a ddeathflower clayified hair and when I imported the texture into S4 Studio nothing shows on the model? Is this normal? Am I okay to save the package and put it in my game?

Can you show a picture? Most likely the mesh isn't included. I'm guessing.

I suggest opening the original package file and just adding a swatch.

I suggest opening the original package file and just adding a swatch. If you do that you won't be able to share the cc item since it will conflict with anyone having the original hair already. You shouldn't ever do this if you want to share anything created by someone else and it's not the proper way to recolor cc. There's one tutorial about it for cas and for objects . Basically you need to put the package to clone in the mods folders located in the game folder and in the s4s folder. Then clone as you would with an EA item.

I dunno,I recolor like this and there haven't been any....negative effects till now.
Not gonna discuss the sharing stuff.

What I meant is that way you're not "recoloring" the item to be a separate .package. If it is a personal edit of the original mesh or textures and you don't want to keep both in the game I'd guess it is fine. But if for whatever reason you decide to share your recolor, people having both the original mesh and your recolor in game will cause conflict. Your edit is basically the same .package than the other one but with one more swatch. Making so that the other colours would be duplicated. I was on mobile and I couldn't link you the tutorials earlier, but you should read THIS for recoloring CAS items. And THIS for objects. If the method you used haven't caused any issues to you it is ok for you, but in this case your advice is misleading people. This is a wrong way to recolor stuff and shouldn't be done at all. I can't control what you do in your computer, but I can warn others that it shouldn't be done. No offence intended to you, I appreciate your willingness to help

Also be careful about using CC when coloring/meshing items that you want to share, some creators have a TOU (terms of use) where they want you to do something specific (normally credit, sometimes post in a specific place...) Just something to keep in mind before you put in a lot of work.
