Here's a little refresh in case you didn't know... When you select in blender, it's always right click. This area is where you choose to select a vertex (point), an edge (line), or face (plane). If you press 'X' it will bring up the delete menu. I usually use delete faces, because delete verts will look like you delete more than what's selected. If you select the faces of the collar and arms from the nightgown, press x, delete faces, then that should get rid of the extra faces. The default model is the nude top and bottom, so when you want something skin tight (or mostly) it's best to either just paint the clothes you want on top, or edit directly from the model top. For something baggy like this nightgown, once you make the nightgown and get an idea of where you want it you will delete all of the parts that overlap and connect the two objects into one, by ALT M (merging) the points. Always take the clothes to the nude top, not the other way around or you'll get weird results. When you have an overlap like a sleeve, people generally tuck it under a little and then close it off. The most important thing (usually) is making it into one solid object. People cheat sometimes, especially with jewelry, by just overlapping two objects and the CTL J to join, but when you're dealing with clothes, you really don't want the extra Geometry because 1. that's extra UVs to deal with and 2. it makes the file bigger. So since it looks like everything lines up pretty well in this image, just delete extra faces and merge the points. You only need 1 studio_mesh so you can delete the others.

The default model is the nude top and bottom. You import the nude top and/or bottom if you do not have the files there. Delete all geometry underneath your clothes and join (ALT M) the points of the model top until it is one solid object
