Sometimes i get a weird white shine on objects (moves with sunlight as well). It doesnt go away with importing the blank spec or bump, but when i use split edge in blender on the object and then it looks normal and not shiny anymore. I wonder why? So mostly the object looks good after, except for certain things like a couch, chair or bed where the object needs to be curvy (so it seems to me). Take a look at the bed to the right, it had a weird shine before although the left bed has the same sheets and it always looked good even without split edge. I used split edge on the right bed and then it became all squary like on the pic.. and it still siny after all. I have the same with a couch and chair.. why this happens and how to fix it?

This is called a normals issue. While the edge split modifier is good to fix the edges automaticaly most of the time. For special projects like this ones you should split the edges manually in the areas that need it.
To do it select the edges in Blender and press Ctrl+E and the Edge Split.
Also, the shine could be caused by a wrong Specular. For it to be matte, you need to make sure that both the RGB and Alpha Channel are fully black.

oh and another question related to split edge. Is it possible to undo that once you closed the file? Otherwise i would have to create the whole file again. Hoping theres an option for that

I don't know about the specular issue. The version that is shared in the forum has a white alpha. So it doesn't make the item completely matte. Sometimes it's not what you want.. If you want the matte effect try to edit the alpha too. You can try using the ones inabadromance shared in her tumblr HERE. You need the second file. And about the edge split. The opposite function is removing doubles. While this doesn't undo completely the changes, because sometimes the object had some specific edges splited before you applied the modifier. The remove doubles function will join every edge that is splited.

It can be yes. But It's hard to know without the .package and .blend file. If you post them I can look into it and post some pics .

After almost a year i have re-opened this file, cause it was one of favorite meshes. Now i saw that i placed the spec mesh in the wrong section, so i changed it. The couch looks fab now I am very happy and after re-reading this topic i learned again what to do. SO THANKS again!! So happy with this amazing website!
