I really wasn't planning on making a help thread... but I'm probably dozens of hours deep and unwilling to give up. ><
and my brain is also turning to mush
I have a rigging nightmare on my hands, and it shows up perfectly fine in blender. Weight transfer doesn't help, and neither has rigging it myself.
The arms stick out, there's lumps where there really shouldn't be (no geometry should even be there), vertices are following bones they don't even belong to.
I can try to give more info/.blend/.package files if they're needed
yeah it's maya fey i'm a giant AA nerd
model from ik1l73r on dA and i never want to look at image editing software again

Have you done the uv_1 vertex paint?i had a similar issue and i realized i forgot the vertex paint There is also a tutorial that might help. I can give a link to you if you want to (idk if i'm right tho. I'm just trying to help)

hi! Please share the .blend and .package files. These type of issues can't be easily replied by only looking at the pictures. Your problem is weight transfer related. So be sure to follow the steps of the tutorial as it is explained without missing any steps, specially if you're not using the 2.70 version of Blender.

I can't get the files to upload in the thread. I click and drag the files like it says to, but nothing happens afterwards. The rules say no links, am I doing something wrong? gnerdsimmer thank you! that's a tutorial i hadn't found yet

Where exactly does it say "no links"? Here's a guide on how to share files. Similar steps on each of the accounts you might have, either dropbox or simfile share if you havae one.

i see that it can raise confusion. I believe that line is intended to TSR or MTS users. But any other link that isn't direct. The way you're sharing your files now is perfectly fine. Your mesh has more than 4 bones (what the game can read) per vertex causing the issue you see on the first post. This will depend on the version of blender you're using. Please re follow the weight transfer tutorial and apply the "clean" step for newer versions of blender titled in red. I've seen this a few times but since i've always used the 2.70 (the most stable one in my opinion) i haven't tried that. So if that doesn't work for you, then i would download the 2.70 in zip form (linked in the S4S download post) and do the weight transfer with that version.

I'm working on redoing the transfer now- but how do you see the vertex weights list? I have Transform above Grease Pencil instead.

You need to be in vertex mode and click on any vertex.

Thanks much! I've got almost everything thing moving how it should now... Except for a few vertices that refuse to work right on the legs/shoulders. Here we have the specimen... top three circles are vertices that refuse to move, and the bottom one is leg vertices that do stretch when they shouldn't. Sliders don't work either, but somebody else just posted a thread on that so I'll check there first. thanks to you guys, her arms are moving now! thank you very much. won't mark this thread as solved quite yet, but I will as soon as she's complete.

Hey, do you have this CC for Maya Fey available for download?

I don't. :( It's still just as broken as it was before, and I'd really love if I could find somebody that knows what they're doing better than I do.

Hi. To avoid gaps you need to either remove doubles before weight transfer or after. These vertices are getting different vertex group values. To avoid the shadow at the bottom you need to either split that edge loop or unwrap created geometry ( the "cap" you created to cover the hole at the bottom). S4S splits the mesh along uv island borders, so that shadow will go away Sliders do not work because the mesh is not vertex painted
