Hello everyone! I was just reading along this tutorial (http://sims4studio.com/thread/4324/tutorial-detailed-guide-create-clothing) to figure out how to make my own 3d meshes from scratch. The problem I face is that I cannot see the create 3d mesh option! Here's what my main screen looks like upon start up: I was hoping to stumble upon some mac owners that are cc creators. I understand there are options for bootcamp and partitioning and what not but that's not the solution I'm looking for. Thanks!

hi! Welcome to the forums. I've not personally tried that version since i do not have a mac, but by the pictures on the thread, i can see that the mesh tab appears without selecting a "3d mesh" option. Have you tried cloning a base game item and seeing if you can import your own mesh?

Hey! Thanks for responding! <3 To be honest I'm quite new to this so I'm not sure what you meant by the question; but I was going to see what would happened if I tried "Create CAS Standalone"; It does pull up the the Sims 4 file path, but that's about it. I apologize for the cluelessness! Currently looking around so I know where to start!

I apologize for the cluelessness! Currently looking around so I know where to start! Hi there! No need for making apologies! I was and partially still am at times just like you, clueless I work in both systems OS X and Windows and inabadromance is right; this is no option 'create 3D mesh' yet. However, your still able to import and export meshes in the mesh tab. I just tried a BG hair and imported the blenderfile S4S made, to a BG ponytail just to see what happens (see images below). I get a new CAS item with the mesh I imported in game it also functions as it should be (it looks like poo I know but this is just a quick example of replacing a mesh) Technically this means you can create modified EA CAS meshes even though the create 3D mesh isn't available. But first things first; are you just starting with blender/sims4studio or are you already creating for awhile? I'm asking because the tut you refer to needs some basic understanding of Blender and photoshop/Gimp or any other 2D editor. If you're not familiar with Blender and or one of these 2D editor there is a lot of stuff you might not understand. And I know how frustrating that can be!

I'm having a problem that may be related to this, too. I created a mesh independently for a shirt. Then I exported a shirt mesh from S4S. I opened the S4S mesh in blender, imported my .obj file of my shirt and merged the meshes together. I'm really new to all this but from what I know I think my UV map on DiffuseMap looks okay. The problem is when I try to import the mesh and the UV map into S4S, the preview sim is covered in gridlines and there is no 3d object at all. For all I know importing my mesh does absolutely nothing because nothing at all changes when I supposedly import it into S4S. I'm a lot better at creating meshes from scratch rather than messing around with modifying an EA mesh, so I really want to make this work. I do think my problem has to do with the fact that I created my shirt mesh separately, but that doesn't explain why there's no 3d when I import it into S4S.
tbh I'm probably just completely clueless :') any help would be appreciated!

hi mallyo, welcome to the forums! Please read the FAQ that is pinned on top in the Creator's section before posting. Your problem is unrelated to the what the original poster asked. It is more organized to create a new thread instead of posting it here. Here's a basic premise of how to properly import an object to s4s. You might want to check that the cut numbers are correct. If you need more help, please create a new thread for it.

Hi joyrachell, the Mac version of Studio was created after we made the decision to make it so CAS would reference any resource that wasn't edited. After the Mac version went up, the Windows version was changed to be like the Mac version (the Harmony series). Because the Mac version had never had recolors and meshes separated on different tabs (like the Windows version does) there was no reason to include these separate options that don't really do anything different. The Harmony version (and now Wishes too) retained those two tabs because removing them would confuse everyone used to using previous Windows versions that have those two options separate. The fact is, no matter which of those options is clicked, Studio constructs the .package in the exact same way. That is, someone can choose to make a recolor, change their mind, and edit the mesh. At some point, the plan is to remove those options from the front screen of the Windows version so it looks like that of the Mac version. Doing that is going to cause a lot of confusion at first though, so it isn't something we're rushing into.
This is the long way of saying the Mac version can make CAS meshes and CAS recolors. Both can be made by clicking the Standalone button. The resources that will be included in the .package are the resources you edit. If you import a new mesh, it will be included in your new .package.

I have a question relating to this thread! So I also have the mac version which does not include the 3D mesh option at the startup menu. I know that I can still edit meshes and get them into the game, but according to these instructions (http://sims4studio.com/thread/861/normal-maps-bump-editing-creating), you need to select the 3D mesh option to access bump maps. When I choose my only option (CAS Standalone), even though I can create a mesh, I cannot access the bump maps! My question is how do I access bump maps on the mac version of s4s?

You should be able to find the normal maps as a texture in the warehouse section of s4studio.

Lazerly, both the mac and windows version now only include the bump map (also called normal map) after editing it, but you can edit it on the Studio tab. The Warehouse only shows what is already in the .package, but the Studio tab can show referenced items that will be included when you modify them.
