I'm back with more issues relating to my water cooler. 1. The seam down the back of the bottle doesn't bother me too much but I'd like to be able to get rid of the two lines running diagonally across the top od the cooler body. I've tried removing doubles but it didn't seem to make any difference. Blender told me it didn't remove anything when I tried that. 2. If possible I would like to remove the diagonal shading either side of the control panel. I can live with it if nothing can be done about it though. The other thing in this picture though is that the normal map only seems to add highlights to the right-hand side of the control panel. The bump map looks as though it should apply them eaqually across the entire area though as I would like. 3. While the black strips definately look as though they are holes in the panel side, as they should, I also want the vents to look slightly raised. I can't seem to achieve this and I'm not sure how to edit my normal map texture to achieve this. The package can be obtained from SimFileShare if anyone would be willing to take a look. Thanks. www.simfileshare.net/download/291380/

Hi! When wanting help with a mesh, it's very important to share the .blend as well since upon export the normals get broken and isn't how it is first imported. So, can you add that please?
Also, i'm not sure i'm understanding the last item...

Here's the blend file> www.simfileshare.net/download/291392/I didn't realise normals got broken on export. As for the last item, the area above each hole should look slightly hooded. The vent on the back of the cooler has the sort of effect I'm looking for but I made that from exisiting EA textures and I can't seem to replicate it on the bits I've drawn from scratch. Although, I suppose saying that I could just copy and paste the bits from the back vent onto the sides instead and see what that does.

I took another look at removing the weird diagonal lines on the top of the body part and found that if I seperate the top from the rest of the mesh then the lines go away but I then can't have the edges along the top look curved.

I'm sorry, i usually check the forum from my phone and then forget to check the files when i'm home. I look at your mesh, and does this work for you? Change to edge selection, select the edges displayed in the picture, press SUPR (the delete that's over the num pad) and "dissolve edges" Please do this, import the mesh and test it in game... the thing is that once triangulated the edges come back so i'm not sure if it looks good in game or not. EDIT: Once the edges are dissolved, you can change into face selection, select the top face and press Y to disconnect it from the base. This will make the edges of the face harden but it fixes the diagonal issue. EDIT2: As for the water tank, you have to select each piece individually by hovering the mesh and pressing L and Remove Doubles to get rid of the vertical seam seen in your picture.

Doesn't seem to have made any difference once the mesh is imported back into Studio. I just checked in game and the diagonal shading lines are still there.
EDIT: Following your first edit it does get rid of the lines but as you say, the surrounding edges are sharp now instead of smooth. I'll have to weigh up which I will settle with. I've not tried editing the water tank yet.

Solved it! I triangulated the top surface in blender and told it to use a slightly different method so it triangulated it in a different pattern. There's no weird shading now AND I get to keep the smooth edges. I'll try the water bottle next.
The online normal map generator shows that effect when previewing and altering settings but once I get it into the correct format for Sims 4 and import it, the stand out bits no longer work. Unless the effect is just that minimal I can't see it.
