Hey there, I am trying to make a hair conversion from The Sims 3 to The Sims 4, but first a little disclaimer:
This hair was created by Moirae from Chi-Sims, it's called Nobel Unique 3, it existed both in The Sims 2 and 3 versions, I think. I've tried to contact them but they seem to have vanished off the face of the earth, all of their websites and links are dead. The hair isn't even available for download at their site, just the pictures, and names of their content I remembered it was Chinese-themed and I found it and my sister just happened to have it in her The Sims 3 mods folder. If anyone knows of a way to contact the people from Chi-Sims, please tell me and I'll ask for their official permission to convert their creations. In any case, I only want it for personal use, but I'd like to actually ask for their permission. It really is the only hair that fits one of my characters and I would have never submitted myself to this ordeal if I didn't need it so much, I know absolutely nothing of anything I've had to do. But still, I could not ask for their permission, If any admins think this thread shouldn't be posted here, please delete.
That's it for the disclaimer, here is what I did:
-Exported TS3 mesh with S3PE
-Imported lod 0 to Milkshape
-Exported mesh and imported it into Blender
-Replaced TS4 EA mesh with new mesh in Blender
-Transferred weights and unwrapped UV map (it came premade with the UV map of the original TS3 hair which was awesome)
-Got the hair to show up flawlessly in S4S and eventually got a grip on how textures work and got it almost-perfectly textured (there's one lock of hair that doesn't follow the flow of the rest of the hair and the texture on it looks backwards or something)
-Got the hair working in game (only tried it in CAS)
When I saw it in CAS, I realized it looked really bad because the ends aren't frayed, just cut like cardboard, same goes for the locks that fall on the sim's face, so I closed the game and went back to Blender to delete polys in order to make it look better.
I deleted some in Edit Mode, Face selection mode, by selecting both individual and multiple faces and pressing delete. I also deleted the edges and vertexes. It looks perfectly fine in Blender, but when I save the .blend and attempt to import it into S4S it looks the same, no deleted parts.
I've googled it everywhere and nothing comes up. This always means that one's doing something really stupid wrong, and that's why no one else has the problem. So I apologize for making you read all of this and take your time in pointing out something I'm sure will be completely obvious once I see it, but I truly have no ideas left. As I mentioned, I don't know what the hell I'm doing, just following tutorials and common sense.
This is how it looks in S4S (ignore the horrible texturing)
Here's what it looks like in Blender
Here's a link to the .blend file.
MEGA
Any help or ideas are appreciated, thanks in advance from a desperate woman!
