Thanks so much! That's a great, easy to understand tutorial, I can't wait to try it! It'll be a few days before my computer is up and running though, looks like it's worse off than I thought. I just hope my saves and stuff still exist. I'll let you know how it goes when I get it back, but I bet your tutorial will work

Will there ever be an easier way to get default thumbnails than having to check the item in-game, or is that just how it works?

If you're looking for game generated thumbnails there is no other way to get them. The game does not generate them until they are actually used unfortunately. This means that in order to get the game to generate them you have to look at them first.

This is a beginner tutorial but for the life of me, I can't get it to work. Once I noticed that my thumbnails were showing up so I did the overlay and it worked great. But when i actually need it to work, it wont :( I have been in and out of game several times, pull all the variations out and place them. I am pretty sure that I have the correct path to the game; just not sure what I am missing... (I am using Jackpot)

Is the problem that Studio is not showing you game generated thumbnails or that your new thumbnails with overlay aren't showing in the game?

Studio isn't showing me the thumbnail image after the game should have generated them

Hi eronnoel, if I'm understanding you correctly, it sounds like at one point Studio was pulling game generated thumbnails into your .package and now it is not doing so. Try clicking Tools in Studio's upper menu bar and select Clear Thumbnail Cache. Once Studio has cleared your thumbnail cache, go into the game and view your item, then open it in Studio to check for the thumbnails. If the thumbnails still are not appearing can you check your thumbnail cache .package to see if the game generated them and put them into the cache? To do that open the thumbnail cache.package by clicking on My Projects and then navigating to that .package and opening it: It will open in the Warehouse. Pull the line to the left of the word Type to the right to expand the thumbnail box that is just to the left of the Type column. This will make it easier to scroll through the thumbnails in the cache to see if your item's thumbnails are there:
