Lacuna, saying something doesn't work makes it difficult to know what exactly the problem is. Please describe the steps you took that lead to the unwanted result and what the unwanted result is.

Sorry you're right. I have followed all the steps in the tutorial.
1. Open studio, created a new package and imported my textures 2. Checked for the right categories 3. Closed the studio 4. Put .package in mods folder 5. Start the sims 4, created a new sim and opened my clothing 6. Hovered/clicked on every swatch thumbnail 7. Closed the game (no save) 8. Opened the studio and loaded my .package
after all this still no catalog thumbnails

Can you post the .package so I can take a look at it?

Hi Lacuna, I'm not having any problem making custom thumbnails for this .package: Is it possible you have your old version of this top still in your mods folder and you're inadvertently selecting that one instead of this one to look at when you're in CAS?

Hi Orangemittens.
I removed all my CC from the mods map. Then i have create the new .package and put that in the mods map. So that's not possible. I will try it again. :-)
Edit: I create a new package, follow the steps. But i don't get thumbnails, what am I doing wrong? :-(

Hi Lacuna, currently the way this feature is set up is, if Studio runs into a problem getting at your thumbnail cache, you won't receive any error message. This makes it rather difficult for you to know it's running into a problem and once you know that it is because the thumbnail doesn't work it's impossible for you to report what the problem is.
The next update of Studio will have error message code for this situation. When that version is ready I hope you will try it because, without any error message to look at, I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be. That version will, hopefully, clear this up for us. In the meantime, could you test with some other garment just to be sure there isn't some issue with this particular one?

Thank you for your answer, i will wait for the update.
I'll try it with other clothing, does it also work with objects?

Yes, object catalog thumbnails work in the same exact way.

Hey Lacuna, We have updated to version 2.4.1.4 with some fixes that may help with this thumbnail issue. If it still does not work for you, the new version will have more detailed error reports in your Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Logs folder. If you could try again with the new version and send us the errors from your logs file (if it doesn't work), it could really help us figure out the problem.

When loading CC that others have created, I get a lot of them that show as "alien" body parts. Here is what I have tried: - I have loaded the package in S4S and selected the Occult "Human" saving to all - I have tried to import my own .png file and the application crashes - I have tried to "clear" the Catalog Thumbnail but the application crashes Below is a screen that shows what i mean by "alien" top in this case. Any attempt to clear or replace crashes S4S Here is a screenshot of the error when it crashes. (It will allow me to open in debug mode and I can get more information for you if you need it) Any assistance would be helpful, It's frustrating having a large collection but they are all the same generic alien image. Oh and this particular package is from here: www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/details/category/sims4-clothing-female-teenadultelder-everyday/title/turtle-neck-top--s7/id/1291849/

Looks like I got it. At the bottom of the error is an "Ignore" button. If you press that eventually it will clear the image and you can import your own thumb or leave it blank so it will let the game generate one for you.
Hope this helps anyone else having this trouble. Happy Siming!

saviente, Studio has a mods folder batch fix for the alien catalog thumbnail problem that EA's patch/expansion caused. Please see the current beta download for details.
