Hey everyone:) I'm trying to recolor some hairs for the very first time and when I save it these "Intel texture works v.1.0.4" options pop-up and I'm not sure what the correct settings would be? Also when I tested it on the sim in S4S it made the whole sim change color. I don't know what I'm doing lol but I really want to learn. Also how do I make sure that I don't include a creators mesh? I don't want to accidentally include it! (I would take some pictures to show you guys but I can't seem to find where the "printscreen" pictures save on my laptop.. I looked in documents and pictures. I looked everywhere :/)

BC3/DXT5 compression generate mipmaps color selection luminance mipmap filter default Thank you! I have one more question, when I open up the DDS file in Photoshop a pop-up comes up saying "Nvidia DDS Read properties" Then it shows these options: -Load using default sizes -Convert images to 8 bits -convert images to 16 bits -convert images to 32 bits Which one do I choose? and after that there is these two options: -Load MIP maps -Load Flipped Vertically Do I check either of these two? Thanks! <3 Leniad

I don't use photoshop, so I can't answer the question. Instead of .dds files, S4S now allows you to use .png files, which I prefer.

yolandy I suggest using .png for editing the texture. Every time you open, edit, save the picture in .dds it looses quality. Studio is able to export textures in .png.

MisterS it's better in certain cases when you save and import in Studio. But it's absolutely the worst when you keep resaving the file in .dds format after editing. Yolandy asked how to open the file in photoshop.

Ive got DDS to open with photoshop by default, when I accidentally export it in png and double click it and photoshop don't open I get right cranky :P That is my only argument.

From my experience, png is more likely to produce artifacts (coloured blocks around and within the texture, especially in half-transparent regions) but the texture appears sharper overall. That's why I stick to png and only switch to dds when the artifacts are giving me a hard time (for hair textures, I'd recommend dds only though). In general it's a good idea to keep your project as a psd file so you don't have to open and resave a dds file (that would worsen the texture quality).
