So, I was working on a dog costume. Specifically, I wanted to make the "cone of shame" semi-transparent, so I could make a costume of Cosmo the Space Dog. I followed the glass accessory tutorial on here (very helpful, by the way!) and from certain angles, it works! And then from certain angles, it... doesn't. I tried appending the mesh of the blank dog head in Blender to replace the one that comes with the cone model, and it looks fine in the Blender preview, but when I import it into S4S it instead replaces the cone mesh with a second dog head. I also tried importing the mesh through the export-import geometry in the Warehouse, but that didn't seem to do anything either. Any ideas?

Not to bump this thread, but I'm still really struggling. I took another look, thought I had it figured out, and loaded it up into my game to test it. This is less correct than before! I don't know what I'm doing wrong! This should be so simple, and yet I'm pulling my hair out! Any help?

hannahkotoba, judging from pictures something went wrong. This is all what can be determined without seeing the files (.blend and .package)... If you want more info, please share the files.

Right, of course, probably should have done that first. Here's the .blend (which I tried to use, but couldn't get to load into S4S properly for whatever reason), and here's the .package where I appended the geometry via the Warehouse and created the second post's monstrosity.

hannahkotoba , personally I would never import meshes via warehouse. You need to restore a lot of connections in all resources like Region Maps and CAS parts. Your CAS part is connected to missing LOD with groups 80C704A0 and 80B76349 that aren't present in your .package. It has to have dog head and cone, not only cone if this is how it looks in original mesh. Regarding transparency, probably this is due to simglass shader. I don't know how to fix it in this case.

i personally don't have the expansion pack yet, so i can't look into the package and blend. you can try following this tutorial. you only need two groups in your blender file, what will be transparent and what will be opaque.

This file needs to have 3 groups then, not 2.

I only went into the Warehouse to begin with (I know for a fact that the Warehouse is way beyond my coding level, lol) because I was having trouble with importing from Blender. The .blend has both the dog head and the cone (with mesh 1 being the cone and mesh 2 being the head, like the original item), but when I import it into S4S it imports two dog heads and no cone for whatever reason. Looking at the .blend I have no idea why it would do that, I've double-checked the file for duplicated geometry and all, so I don't know why S4S imports it wrong.
Making the item transparent wasn't the issue (in fact, that part was very easy); the problem was that the geometry under the usually-opaque item was incomplete in the parts you wouldn't normally see, and for whatever reason S4S doesn't want to let me repair it. At this point, the only thing I think I could do to salvage it would be to make the base part of the cone completely opaque so you can't see the damaged geometry underneath it.
