Hi. Hola. Привет.
In brief: I'm new to modding, though I've spent a great deal of time parsing through tutorials/forums and am extremely motivated to learn. I've drawn up an 'outline' of the various buffs/interactions/items I want to bundle together to form a disease mod (a la Basemental's in terms of scope). I've made Hypochondriac/Healer traits with fairly detailed buffs/Bubble Boy Aspiration, but want to take it further. I prefer to introduce a degree of grit to gameplay and ultimately would like to include a variety of epidemiological nightmares (e.g. bubonic plague, mad cow, genetic disorders, addiction-related diseases, allergies, potentially even STDs).
Issue: I'm having difficulty figuring out how I would go about augmenting the illness buffs for the entire population and generating random instances of disease/spreading infection.
I'm a front-end dev, so, coding isn't alien to me...but developing a proper mod to rain down viral chaos onto my unsuspecting Sims is proving to be more involved than I initially had thought. Right now I'm just low-level tinkering around in Blender with some disease-related animations to eventually incorporate until I can wrap my head around next steps for serious scripting. I've read through a ton of Scumbumbo's documentation (which has been incredibly helpful), but still am not exactly sure where to begin dissecting/editing files/scripts. If anyone has any advice/wisdom to pass down/could point me in the right direction of how to either makeshift tune things or dig-in to some Python, I would sincerely appreciate it!
