Hiya! I'm making a pair of earrings from Link's amber earrings in BotW. I've figured out most of it, but the one thing I cannot get right is how to get the sharp gemstone facets to stay sharp in game. I've tried marking the edges as sharp and the faces as flat on Blender, but whatever I do, it's still really blobby on CAS. Here's my current package and .blend file if you want to have a look. I would really appreciate any help or insight on why this might be and how to fix it. Thank you!

I for some reason cannot download the files. However, while I have no clue about CAS items, in B&B items the only way to get a really shard edge is to cut it, so that you have two separate planes.

Hi Anska! Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I understand you, though. What do you mean by cutting the edge?

Ah, I am sorry. In blender, edit mode > edges, there is a tool called edge split. It basically does what it name implies and cuts a joined edge between two or more polies so that they are separate planes afterwards. In Sims b&b objects, when a sharp edge is wanted, it is generally split, while they are not, when a rounded shape is desired. In a cylinder for example the round part would be joined while the bottom and top would be split to create a sharp edge.

Oh my gosh, really? That seems like such an unnecessarily convoluted way to do it, but it should be easy enough to accomplish, if a bit tedious. Thank you so much for your help, will let you (and anyone potentially reading this) know if that fixes it.

Having worked with a few CAS items I can confirm that Edge Split does indeed work in the same way for both CAS and Build/Buy items. Select the edges you would like to be sharp and then apply the Edge Split option.

I think enabling autosmooth and marking edge sharp would help too. See this video.

The edge splitting thing did the trick. Thank you everyone for your input! & thank you, Feyona! I had actually marked edges sharp too but that wasn't doing anything in game. Oh well. Here's the result! All I have to do is adjust the colour and I'll be done. :D
