When I try to use the extract tuning option, S4S crashes instead of bringing up the list. I am using Wishes 3.1.2.0 This used to happen me all the time (even with preview S4S) if I tried to extract them while I was on a project. What I did to fix that, and so far I didn't get the problem again, when S4S is updated the exact moment I open the program I use the extract tuning option and wait till it brings up the list, then I close that list and start with my project (following this tutorial, the extraction should be between the first two steps and again at step 7, atleast the first time). There's no need to do that process again till S4S is updated. I hope this helps you too.

If I wanted to modify a TV or a computer (and change what is shown when it's turned on/interacted with), how can I go about doing this? I'm mostly interested in changing the computer. I want to put my own image on the screen instead of what it shows by default. I've never done this, so I'm at a loss at where to begin... Would it involve tuning? I don't know xd

I'm trying to do this with something I cloned from another CC item. They already put their custom tuning name, and it's obviously not popping up when I search it after extracting the tuning. This means I can't create the "object tuning" part. What should I do?

Hi! I was modifying the steam room/sauna that came with spa day to one that could only sit two people (only having the bench on one side). Thanks to these instructions I managed to make the changes needed to accomplish this. Now the problem is that the original (the one from the pack, not my cc) can't seat more than two sims either. I was following the instructions step by step and every once in a while tested my object in-game. At first I thought the problem occurred in consequence of me not changing the tuning names and tuning IDs in the warehouse, but when I eventually changed them everything was all the same. Some how the coding is still affecting the original object. Is there something that could "separate" the code of my cc and the original? ty in advance

I don't know if this is the correct way, but I managed to get it to work by adding the original XML to the package file along side the modified one that I made. So now the original steam room seats four sims and mine seats two as was intended. Now the only problem is that the steam animation seems a little out of place, because I wanted to also change the position of the stove(?) and while the steam floats in the right place it flows out from the wrong place (where the sauna stove used to be). I've heard that we can't modify the visual effects in the sims 4. Is that true? And if not, how can one do it?

Not really, but if you're okay with it and not planning to release it I don't see why not. That is no longer true as of last year, you can edit/create new VFX but it is not easy if you want to do anything complicated. You can download the tool to do so here, there is a basic tutorial on recoloring on the download page that can get you started. Any further questions about the tool though has to be done on the thread as it's not related to S4S. However, I think you might be able to adjust the FX slots on the sauna to move the steam, or if you want to remove the VFX you can edit the tuning, etc. to remove it instead.

If this is someone else's custom object tuning, you need to open the original and export the tuning they made, then import it into yours.

It doesn't matter what object they cloned. If they made a custom tuning, the custom tuning is in the original package you cloned. Open it up, go to the Warehouse tab, export the object tuning, import into yours. Or if both are going to be in your game, just copy/paste the object tuning name and tuning ID into each Object Definition in your file to avoid conflicts.
