This looks pretty good! Very creative and nice design! I'm not too sure about the same model having seating and decorating capabilities but I'm sure it's possible.

If the sofa is lower than whatever you cloned for it, then you will need to move the seating slots down to avoid having the Sims hover over it when sitting on it. I've put deco slots on seating items (in areas where there were no seating slots), and those did not cause the Sims to stop sitting on them.

I made a seat with a deco slot behind where the Sim sits and it works fine. So long as the deco slots and seating slots don't overlap then there shouldn't be a problem.

Won't you end up with the feet of the sim inside the ground if you lower the seating slots? (I mean lower than their normal level)

(I mean lower than their normal level) I found out that you can change the high for the feet as extra part to the height of the seat. So you can make the feet higher than the sitting area as example. If this works with sofas must be tested

That's correct. The slots for feet can be moved seperate from the slots for the butt. They'll just sit with their knees a bit high up looking is all.

Thank you for your input.
The model has been made in 3dsMax, do I have to use Blender which I don't know how to use?

You need to make the Mesh to a .blend File. So... yes you need Blender.

You will also need to make sure that your new sofa has the same number of mesh groups and the correct cut numbers for each that match with the object you have used as a base to create your new package from.

Thank you both. With mesh groups I take it you mean modelling stach in 3dsMax. I suspect I have to do a lot of trial and errors anyways, so I'll keep an eye on that.

I have never used 3dsMax I am afraid so I don't know what the term "modelling stach" means. Objects are made up of at least two mesh groups in TS4. There is the indoor floor shadow and then the mesh of the actual object. Sometimes there are more groups if glass is involved, for example. Each group then also has a "cut number" assigned to it which tells the game which mesh groups to display at what time. Indoor floor shadows usually have cut number 0 which tells the game to show it indoors but hide it outdoors.

I'm starting with a 2 seat on the right side then, and see where I end up.
It is actually separate, so I could make it 3 sofas and a table as sections.
