I cloned the bassinet and when exporting the mesh from S4Studio it said the geometry states are not available for the mesh. I didn't have any troubles with the new bassinet, but in game there's a baby already in the bassinet. I don't have any babies and there are no Sims in the lot I put it in. Any ideas?

You need to make your item as an override of the original.

I got rid of my package and chose "Overide" instead of "Create new mesh", and replaced the meshes and textures and everything. It showed up in game with the baby still in it. I looked at my recolors of it and then went to Object Catalog. Then my game crashed. I removed my package from the game and went back and built for a hour and the game was working.
