Hi,
When I import/export a mesh in studio there is a shift in the vertex groups.
For example there are 20 vertex groups : - from 1 to 10 everything's fine
- 11 has been emptied
- from 12 to 20 there is a shift : vertex groups contain the weight paints of the previous group ! 12 is 11, 13 is 12 and so on
I cleaned the mesh and deleted empty groups but nothing helped, every time I import/export in studio it creates that shift.
What did I do wrong ?

I tried to reproduce the issue on a vanilla mesh to share files with you but everything works fine with other meshes To give you more informations I'm messing with custom bones. I added some custom bones to the rig and tried to weight paint them on meshes. It works fine up here until today. It seems to happen only with the mesh I'm working on. At some point in the vertex groups one becomes empty and all the next ones contain weight paint of the previous group. Did you also perform "limit total" step? Yes I did. Limit total, clean, remove empty groups... whatever crosses my mind.
It only happens with the mesh I'm working on.
Such a shame I can't share the files...
Is there a summary of all rules to respect when messing with custom bones and weight paint ? Is the vertex groups order in blender relevant ? Like some groups must be before/after some others ?
It looks like a silly mistake to me.
Works with any mesh except the one I'm working with.

it doesn't matter if it's yours or not (it is if you're planning on sharing it publicly, if it's for private use it's fine) either way, we're here to help you not grab the files for something else. so please share the files that are actually giving you issue.

I'm sorry the creator explicitly asks for no repost. I understand that could be difficult to help in such circonstance.
Nevertheless there is something I can share :
This is the custom rig I'm using.
I noticed it makes the game crash to desktop upon loading a sims lot.
Weight painting is irrelevant if the rig cannot be loaded in the game.
Maybe we should start by investigating this ?

No sorry, that doesn't work. The TOU of creators are meant for publicly downloads to be shared with others. This is solely for the purpose of helping you. You can delete the files from the host once the thread is solved and the issue fixed. no one will come here looking for custom content to be downloaded.
Also, i don't understand what that "custom rig" is for. You have to use an EA mesh to transfer the weights and uv_1 from. No custom anything.

If the rig makes the game crash weight painting the new bones is pointless.
Could you tell me if you can load a game with that rig ?

This is the only information i know about custom rigs: sims4studio.com/thread/10079/rig-editing-important , so you should follow the steps Andrew mentions. I can't test your file in game right now, but if it crashes in your game then surely it will on any other. Check if you've done the same steps described above.

Check if you've done the same steps described above. I did. I also notified the issue on that post. The issue happens exactly at 180 bones, whatever the changes you do. Any chance you could get in touch with andrew ? He's asking to not contact him through PM but we didn't have the chance to get his feedback yet.
