Ok, soooo...there is this skirt that I loveeeee but it's wayyy to alpha for my liking, so I decided to export the dds into PS6 and completely rexture and recolor it, and tweak it a bit from photoshop..so from the beginning, I open S4S, click "create 3D mesh", I go into the custom menu and pick the alpha skirt that I want, export and edit. now once I am done, I import it into s4s, dXt5 and all that good stuff, (this is not the first piece of CC to publish) and I go to test it in my game and it's not there! I mean the thumbnail is in the game but it just doesn't show up in my game. I have looked everywhere and every post I have found says that I can include the mesh in an edit if I click on "create 3D mesh"..so why is it acting like I clicked create a standalone?? the skirt works if I have the original alpha package file in my mods folder. BUT THE WHOLE POINT IS NOT NEEDING THE MESH. I am so confused!! by the time I finish working and changing the skirt, it doesn't look anthing like the alpha version, that's why I want to publish this CC with the mesh included because it's my work and my mesh editing and I feel as though it is appropriate.
I was almost positive that you could include the mesh in a rexture/recolor/mesh edit if you click "create 3d mesh" … do I need blender? because I don't use blender, I don't know how to use blender..i do all things in PS6....I hope I was articulate enough that someone out there understands my problem..

Hi! Cloning a custom content with any of the options isn't going to make your package "standalone" anymore. That's been implemented a while ago now. If none of the resources are edited then everything gets linked to the original package. That is why you need the original package in game. Are you recoloring for personal use or to share? You can open the package using "my projects" if you want to add an extra swatch/es. Or you can share your edit linking the original skirt in your download post.
By "alpha" you mean photo realistic? Alpha means transparent.. so is that what you're talking about? Even if you texture something to look different the mesh is the same. Is the original creator ok with you including their mesh with your recolor? Can't you pick a EA mesh instead if you say the item looks now completely different?

I made it look completely different without using blender..because I just started learning blender recently, i'm still doing the Acessory tutorial everyday just to get a comfortable with the program. And I meant alpha as in realistic. I prefer MM.
this was more for personal use..i didn't want to have the original file in my game because it's so big, the original package has over 100 swatches and I converted it to MM and had only 16 swatches after retexturing it..so you're saying the game won't allow me to create a 3d mesh because the "shape" of the mesh is too close to the original? I didn't edit the original mesh enough for it to be recognized on it's own?
I was under the impression that I could simply click create 3d mesh and be able to include the original mesh in the new package, so I wouldn't need to separate catalog thumbnails in my game, so that's not true anymore? Do I have to physically go into blender and change the package just enough so it's considered a new item??
