Absolute beginner here,so please know I'm sorry if I'm lacking basic knowledge. I started trying my hand at recolors following the tutorials here, but I haven't found anything specific to socks. Specifically,I tried changing the textures I edited from one CC package to another(hoping to use the same settings and such),but when I try them in game they don't show up,only a weird very few polygons around the feet show any color at all and only up close. The process I tried is the following: - I extracted the dds textures from the first package using S4S - I edited them with gimp by changing colors and patterns, adding a detail or two and getting rid of a sock garter - I loaded up another CC package containing socks and replaced the textures I didn't like by importing the ones I edited I didn't bother with speculars or bump maps, not even sure socks support those honestly. Can anyone help me and/or recommend me a tutorial?

If you share your package file and a picture of the issue you will be more likely to get help. Without seeing what the issue actually looks like it is hard to know what to suggest.

Hi Pyroclastic+1 to menaceman, please share the resulting package so that we can have a look (simply upload it somewhere like you google drive for example and provide a link to download it). Based on your description of the issue, I would think that the alpha channel of your DDS picture was not saved or it was edited as well maybe in a way that shouldn't. Or maybe not saved as DTX5.

Thanks everyone for answering! I forgot to mention that they show up fine in CAS and in S4S preview, that I've removed feet mods (and the result didn't change) and that the effect increases the closer the camera is. edit: the alpha channel seems to be there as well.I didn't bother with specular or bumps. Can they be added? photos.app.goo.gl/oP1vAHvWy9DeiXvs8drive.google.com/file/d/1nt9yX79pzpSkaifu2K98oKOttLqFc-9K/view?usp=sharingI'd like to add that the textures are only my personal edits,as the original creator is imadako. The package that I tried to texture swap is kumikya's

I may not have selected generate mipmaps.Could this be the cause? What are the best gimp exporting settings concerning dds and png?

Sure if you forgot the mipmap you will have issues there.
For png you need to save as is but your image need to be a layer (that means where there is no texture should be empty, not white but empty) For dds you need to save as dtx5 interpolated and generate mipmap.

I've tried re-saving with mipmaps (that were probably lost inj the process of editing the originals) and uploaded them to the public google album. I can't even describe what is in the last 2 pics, but I guess we may have the culprit after all. I'll try re-editing the originals with the modified versions and save the mipmaps, hoping it will be enough. Do take a look if you feel like it,there may be other problems
EDIT: Seems like doing the procedure for a standalone CAS item and providing a texture with mipmaps was what I needed to do! I only deleted the garted and saved mipmaps, and no issues were to be found! I'll update with edits and such
