Hello, I downloaded a CC loveseat, however the creator didn't correctly assign the slots to the loveseat so the game treats it as a 3 seat couch. (I'm guessing the creator cloned a 3 seat couch instead of a loveseat, maybe by accident?)
When I went into the Sims 4 Studio the amount of slots were quite overwhelming so instead of placing them by hand I exported the Rig.binary file from a loveseat already in the game and imported it to the CC loveseat. The slots looked fine within the program so I tested it in game. When I went in-game the couch would disappear every time i tried to place it.
Going back into S4S I realised I had to do the same thing with the Slots.binary file. So I did. Still the couch would disappear.
After playing around a bit, I realised the tuning file of the CC loveseat was assigned to a 3 seat couch. So I went into a Maxis made loveseat and copied the Tuning and TuningID values from the ObjectDefinition resource. I then pasted these values into every single Object Definition resource of the CC loveseat. And now...it works!!!
I'm guessing the CC loveseat's tuning is "slaved" to the Maxis couch I copied the values from.
And so I'm asking you... ~Are there any downsides of slaving an item's tuning to another one? ~Do I have to update the Loveseat every time there is a major update to the game? ~And most importantly, is this the right way of doing this? And is it safe for my game?
That's all, thanks in advance!

If you are pointing the object to use tuning that is already used by official game objects then you won't have to update it if there is ever a major patch because the loveseat will pick up the tuning changes automatically. The only time this won't work is if MAXIS actually remove the tuning the seat is using from the game. (This has happened in the past with mirrors and lights.) "Slaving" tuning in this way is exactly how Studio works anyway. If you had made a new loveseat yourself, the references to the original base object tuning would still be in there. That way the file size is kept smaller and you don't need to worry about code changes.

Awesome news! I figured this was probably the case, but I really wanted confirmation from more experienced users. Many thanks!! :D
