Hello.
I get that the Override function is generally used to change something about a base item (size, etc.), but can I use Override to make an EA object completely 'disappear' by replacing it with one of mine, in essence saving space (and in doing so, hiding some of the less-attractive base models)?
I am thinking table to table, floor lamp to floor lamp, and such.
Thanks!
In reading up more on it, I see the only drawback would be that if I previously (or even if another creator?) used that base model to clone from ... all the objects made from it would be overridden too?

hi! yes you can override to hide. and no, your cc wouldn't be compromised unless they used the override option as well. which they don't. I say you override what you need and then test in game.

Hi There jurisprudence ! Just an FYI - I have been meaning to make a mini-tutorial about this for months now - but you can make a DR (default replacement as I call them) for most any item - AND - use it in your game, - without - marking a lot as 'Having CC' IF you remove the Object Catalog data item in Warehouse when saving your file. I have made a couple of hundred of these items lately, replacing some of the most over-used and least-used items in-game with my own CC. To keep it NoCC, that means not being able to change the price, not change any tags, but does include being able to change the rigging (such as adding slots - renumber the rig if you do that) and changing the tuning/environment score, as well as of course the mesh(es) and texture(s), footprint & lighting... I am in the process of assembling some of it that I used in a lot for a friend - I wanted more of the 'Felix Andre' look to my art, so I chose to use Roberto Ferri. All but the wall covering, floor covering, 2 carpets and the kimono with stand are 'NoCC' items that are DR I have made. These are mostly simple recolors or added FX, but in the first photo on the right - the wall canvases are replacing the BG ones with some from EP06, the Japanese screens replace one of the awful (IMHO) BG ones, in the second photo the Sims 3 Partimus Maximus statue is replacing the ballerina, behind the party statue the Greek painted wall chunk replaces one of the four small kids room pictures, and in the last photo - the pharoah head is replacing the desktop RW pen set, the Buddha head replaces the Cordelia bust, the pedestal bust is replacing the BG Suit of Armour, the BG birdbath is de-birded and given a slot, and the emptied glass box RW items all have slots in them as well. All of that is not recognized by the game as CC. The *only* downside that I have run into really is that I have made so much of it, I forget just how much more goodness I have to build with without the CC icon staring me in the face and saying "Here I Am...". Cheers!

inabadromance minimonster That sounds amazing. minimonster LOVE those portraits! ... And the Pharaoh head ... and the vases - pretty much everything. And what a perfect way to 'kill two birds with one stone' so to speak. Thank you both. Will begin trying this immediately.

minimonster A mini tutorial would be wonderful. If you do decide to make one, please let me know if you'd like any help at all (you can record it or dictate it and I'd be happy to type it up, or whatever you needed).
