Request/Possible to make animation overlays trait dependant?

Hi y'all!
I've got a sim that I want to make based off of one of my own characters.
The problem is, he can't express emotion. He feels everything, but can't express it. This would also work well for other stoic sims.
I'm wondering if it's even possible to make facial animation overlays work on a PER SIM basis.
Like these mods, except perhaps based around a trait/custom toggle in game??
