I have absolutely no idea if this is possible or not as I have next to no experience with buffs but thought I would ask. Is it possible to stop a Sim from aging by applying a buff to them?
I'm working on a robotic pet mod/buff/thing. At the moment I have made specific CAS assets that when applied to a pet gives them a custom buff that prevents any biological need decay and increases their intelligence slightly. Ideally I would like to disable aging but if that isn't possible by this method then I'm happy to just imagine it is the mechanical parts wearing out.

If you have EP City Living, a hidden trait named 'isWeirdo' can stop aging. I also used the same codes to make my mod working. www.modthesims.info/d/627059/

HI menaceman44! Shortly after Pets came out, I made a mini-mod piece of CC for dogs that was a collar that had the buff: buff_NPC_Pet_Suppress_All_Motive_Decay - Hash: 00000000000290E8 attached to it using the clothing buff indicator Type: 6017E896 that works quite well for stopping all pet needs, however does nothing for aging. I looked into the buffs, and I was unable to find anything buff-based that modifies aging. However, I did find these tags in Traits for aging: <T n="can_die">False</T> <V n="disable_aging" t="enabled" /> But as I said, only in traits, and not buffs, which I know is what you are looking for. That said, for certain modifiers such as aging having been stuck only within a Trait, tells me that the aging mechanic is trait-specific and may not be able to be added to a buff, I have added many, many different modifiers to different clothing buffs over the past couple of years, and have discovered that generally when that is the case the modifier will throw LE's when the game tries reading it within a buff. That said, it never hurts to try it, by inserting it somewhere near-ish the top modifiers of the clothing buff tuning to see if it works! I would try throwing it onto you item/into your tuning, and firing up the game for a few minutes, maybe even taking the pet on a walk so that the item of clothing is placed on/worn fresh for the buff to kick in anew. Then check your folder to see if there is any LE specific to the buff listed. If no LE, then *maybe* the game will accept the modifier in a buff as well as a trait, and you would have your solution! Cheers!

Thanks for the info guys. Sadly it seems that this code will indeed not work as part of a buff. I tried it in two locations within the tuning. The first attempt didn't create any Last Exceptions but had no effect in game either. The second attempt didn't have any in game effect but did create a Last Exception file that kept mentioning 'str' not having an attribute.
It looks as though my robot pets are just going to have to age with the rest of them.

I checked TDES, the "disable_aging" tag only use in Trait. If you add "DOG" into tag "species", you could make a immortal trait for your dog. I have tested the immortal trait on a dog, and it did stop aging. <L n="species"> <E>SIM</E> <E>DOG</E> <E>CAT</E> </L> Hope it helps
