I'm making some hair and I've applied a specular map which is supposed to make the sim's whole face shiny (that L shape covers the face and hair area but not the accessories): However, in CAS it shows up like this: It only appears shiny around the eyes and slightly shiny around the top of the lips. I have tried applying the specular map to other types of items (e.g. face paint, tattoo, dress) and it always does the same thing The specular size is 512 x 1024 (the diffuse is 2048 x 4096) and both are PNG files, in case that makes any difference. Does anyone know what I might be missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

well, there could be a bunch of issues, the blue colour in specular is probably the one that adds the least shininess, also your mask is only at around 50% strength I think? making it even weaker, try changing the colour to red, and make the mask completely white instead of grey

Thank you sigma. Interesting to know that blue adds the least shininess. I wasn't aware that using different colours even had an effect. However I'm actually ok with the current level of shininess, the problem is that it only shows up in certain places when it should show up everywhere.
It turns out that after I combine the hair with the other accessories I've made for this set, the issue is less noticeable, so honestly I might leave it even if it's not completely fixed.

I think it's working exactly as it should. The game will only apply highlights/reflections/shine to surfaces that are actually facing the lighting source. In this case the lighting source is above and so only the surfaces of the Sim's face which face upwards are being made shiny. Regarding colours for a specular, green is the colour that adds the most reflective and noticable shine to items.
