I am trying to extract an animation from a mod, and I am assuming it is the Clip file I need (no other file names in the mod sound like animations) but I have no idea how to open the animation. There is more than one animation in the mod so I need to pick one, but I really don't see the options I need.
How do I pick and extract an animation from a package? I want to edit it and re-import it.

this is the only method i know, there might be an easier way of doing it 1. select all "Clip" and "Clip Header" from the package (you can use ctrl and left click to select multiple entries at once) 2. click on "batch export" keep the name as it is, it should be "Export.binary" and the "save as type" should be binary, select an empty folder and click export 3. open sims 4 studio, make sure "clip pack" checkbox is selected and click on "animation" 4. go to the warehouse tab and click on batch import, select all the files that you exported previously and import 5. save the package and open it again to update its contents 6. now you can go to studio --> clips tab and select an animation and a rig and click on export If you want to replace the mods animation just click on import, select your blend file, go to the warehouse, select the correct clip and clip header, batch export binary, open the mod package, batch import the files that you exported and it should replace them

Wow I am late to see this! I'll give it a shot. No wonder I couldn't figure it out. I was looking for .blend as my export option. I didn't know what to do with a .binary file. This info will prove useful quite often I suspect. Thx! btw Interesting example you used. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Okay, so whole new problem. I can get the .blend, but for some reason I don't see any actual animation. It's like a blank 100-frame clip. considering the animation makes use of a sim and an object I am assuming I'd need to append both into Blender to see the scene play out as intended?
I see nothing at all, and adding a sim doesn't help. I have made animations before but never involving an object. I am used to opening my animation and seeing actual animations happen. Though tbh it has been years since I last used Blender for anything.
What do I need to do to get this animation to... animate? I just need the sim. I doubt I'd need the object in order to alter what I want but it might be required to get the animation to play once I import the changed animations, not sure.

My animation also contained an object but it exported correctly, are you sure you followed the steps correctly? you can also share the package so i can take a look at it

This sounds similar to the errors I had a few weeks ago as nothing I did allowed S4S to export properly. Are you using 2.79? Make sure that your S4S plugins are ticked, and install another lower version if those don't work. I was only able to export once I installed a lower version along with using 2.79.

I did exactly what you said, in order, as I was reading it and checking back n forth to make sure I didn't miss anything. The mod has tons of clips though so I only took the clips and headers that I was looking to alter. Their names were far too similar for them to not be a match. Worst case scenario, I will export the whole anim list, but that seems redundant since I'd only be exporting the same blend file anyway. Okay, so whole new problem. Actually I think it's 2.70. Anytime I try to export a mesh S4S tells me I must use 2.70 and won't export till I do. I was originally trying to use 1.80 but S4S refuses to work with that version.

Does anyone know how to sort the clips name, so they're shown in order? Theres a lot of animations to scroll through and it's hard to find a specific animation :-[
