Hi there everyone. Really hoping someone can give me some guidance here. I've really been needing an invisible object that I can use to fill a given surface's slots, so that a) sims won't place objects in these slots in live mode and b) I can freely clutter the surface without my clutter objects snapping to the surface's slots and without random temporary placeholders blocking my view. I've searched far and wide, and reached out to as many simmers as I could to try to find something like this, but I'm being told that it doesn't currently exist. Now, being completely unfamiliar with the process of making meshes, I'd obviously prefer to have found this already existing in the community. But unless someone can point me towards the genius who's already made this, I need some more in-depth guidance, because I'm going to try to make it myself.
I got some helpful tips from a cc discord server, and I was told the best route would be to start by cloning an object like EA's little tissue box. I also thought the paper towel roll might be a nice option, to give it some height and make it easier to click, move, delete, etc. when it is surrounded/covered by clutter. So, following S4S's start-to-finish object tutorial for absolute beginners, I went into S4S and cloned each object, starting two separate files. From there, I followed the instructions in this thread, to "replace all shaders to alpha phong." That instruction referred me to another tutorial, found here. Now, I didn't get far before I ran into my first problem. I opened the Warehouse tab, found Model LOD 00000000, looked under the Data tab, and clicked the Edit Items... button next to Meshes. Aaaaand S4S crashed. Tried again and again and again. No luck. Every time I clicked Edit Items, the program crashed immediately. Tried with the other object mesh, same result. Soooo I don't know if this is because I'm on Mac and the Mac version of S4S has more bugs or something? I don't know if I'm doing something wrong? I have no idea. I guess I'm hoping someone can tell me if I'm missing some glaringly obvious error, or if I'm just out of luck? Do I need to beg a creator with more experience and knowledge to make this for me? I just don't know what to do here and would appreciate some guidance.
PS. my S4S client is up-to-date
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
