Hey I'm having some trouble fixing a gap at the bottom seam of my latest dress wip. I was able to close the holes underneath the armpits by fiddling with the uv_1 but I don't see any gaps/ holes anymore that could explain the gap at the bottom The weight painting also looks fine to me. Here is the blend file if anyone has the chance to take a look at it: www.simfileshare.net/download/1678170/

Hi. You must remove doubles before or after transferring weights. Even if vertices share the same coordinates, they might get different values. 1). In Edit mode select everything, switch to Edge select, Select - Select boundary edge loops; 2). In UVs/Shading tab choose Mark seam; 3). In Tools tab choose Remove doubles with Merge distance set to 0,0001; 4). You can split the mesh again the same way by selecting one edge that is marked as seam, Select - Select similar - Seam, then Mesh - Edge - Edge split

I tried that and it didn't work but I noticed the bottom of the dress was somehow completely borked (attached screenshot). Even after removing doubles it still showed up as a hard edge. I even checked if there were any duplicate faces or edges but couldn't find anything. So I just deleted the bottom, remeshed it, transfered weights again and now it works!

Were these edges blue in Edit mode? If yes, it's probably just shading.
