I am new at making custom content and have an issue where my clothing is floating in game. My best guess would be that something went wrong with the weight transfer but I'm not sure what. I used Blender 2.76 for the weight transfer and a tank top from the game. Help would be greatly appreciated! Floating Top

Hi iprimsims and kofuusims . In newer versions of Blender one must take an extra step in the process of Weight transfer: 1). Select the reference, Shift-select your dress, switch to Weight paint, click on Transfer Weights, choose By Name; 2). Click on Clean, select All groups;

mauvemorn Ah I see, thank you so much for the step by step explanation! I missed the "clean" step so that might be the cause. I'll try it soon ^^

I have this problem as well, but when I try to use your tutorial, my version of Blender doesn't result in the box that says Freeze Operator, Create Data and such. There is nothing that says Source Layout,Destination or Mix Mode. Instead I get Group: All-Active, Method: Nearest Face in Vertex-Nearest Face-Nearest Vertex-Vertext Index and Replace: Empty-All.

nyxity Hi! I was having that problem too but already figured it out. You should try clicking your final mesh as the active "layer" and then try to click the transfer weight (see if it shows the additional dialogs below it) and then click the clean button. Now it should show you the dialogs for the clean button! If you can't see it yet you might want to do a bit of scrolling in the small box there. I'm also new to this program tho, but that's what I do to make it works. Also it seems that the tutorial above is using newer version of blender. Mine is at v2.76 and some option in the tutorial isn't always there in my version of blender too, but at least the buttons we need are still there in any version. Anyway I hope it helps you :D

I'm not quite sure how to go about that, unless you mean to make sure the thing that is usually labeled as s4studio_mesh_# is highlighted.

First, you need to make sure that both your garment and the reference are visible and selectable. Second, you select the reference first, Shift-select your garment, switch to Weight paint, click on Transfer weights, and do the rest as explained Keep in mind that if you are using Blender 2.7, clicking on Transfer weights is enough. Everything else is either not present or unnecessary

I had to do it a dozen times to finally get it right, but it is no longer floating!!! Now I just have to fix something else entirely that wasn't there before. You fix one thing and the fix screws something else up. :'(

Thanks for your help mauvemorn. I had originally transferred the weight using the preset source layer and destination options and did not perform the clean process so that is definitely where my problem was. For anyone who has tried following mauvemorn's instructions, yet still has the floating-issue in-game, I did realize that you NEED to have the reference mesh visible while doing this process otherwise the weight doesn't transfer correctly.
