Infants? They are more like furniture. Since infants are objects in Sims 4 and not individuals, is there a mod or a way to create a mod that lets you carry them as objects? But like infants and not a suitcase? Or maybe in a front carrying pouch? Would love to be able to sit in a chair, holding the infant, and maybe sing? or tell a story? Something to make an infant more fun than a doorknob? TS2 babies were fun. Even Ts3 babies could be put in swings, but EA turned TS4 infants into lamps!! There are mods to put them anywhere you want them but I can't find anything that lets me sit down or carry them around until I want to put them down.

So, I guess I was wrong. Some of the cc I find says for babies, the pictures even looks like babies, but it's a toddler. The animation is in the swing not the child right? I guess the baby being an object instead of a person makes it impossible. Even if you put them in a functional toddler swing like dolls, would that work? We could interact with our babies in S2/S3, don't know why they skipped it for S4. I guess we all should have been more specific when asking EA for toddlers. That would have been the time to do it.

We've been asking the same questions ever since EA released TS4. The TS4 babies have always just been a glorified 3D version of the TS1 babies, very strictly tied to their cribs.
If you've seen something that didn't quite look like a TS4 baby and wasn't tied to a TS4 crib (not even an invisible one), then it probably was a tweaked toddler.
There are mods you can use to make the crib invisible, and to default-replace the looks of the baby, but that's about it. For now that's pretty much what you can do with the babies. They seem to be very much tied to the crib.

I guess it's been quite a topic for a long time and sounds like EA was getting a little upset by the discussions. forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/885254/can-babies-be-detached-from-their-cribforums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/926806/so-about-babiesI guess I'm just confused that they could give Sims Freeplay interactive babies but not S4? EA says it's a monumental task and cost too much. They don't have the resources (money). So, how about this idea? I wish I could mod but I just don't get it. Too stupid I guess! What if bassinets were made into other things? We have the invisible crib mod, so if an infant swing or baby carriage was made from the bassinet would that work? I know they wouldn't be functional, like pushing the stroller and baby to the park. I don't know, just a thought.

EA just lazy. A lot of modders are doing better than them. Sad but true

We can't make new cribs/bassinets from what I've seen when researching (and also because it's never been done), so while we could replace the crib with new meshes that will leave you stuck with a baby in a stroller/swing object. It's been my goal to research and try to improve babies for when I convert and make my toddler objects, but I just don't have much hope in anything I do working. I'll try consulting my friend about it and see what he thinks.

I've pretty much given up babies in TS4 by now. I've started skipping it a bit, like I often would do in TS3, not playing the stage fully to the end.
If I want to play around with babies in any of the sims games, TS2 has the cutest ones with the most to do (they have the best CAS content, are poseable, have the best functional toys, etc.).
