Hello all!
I'm looking forward to getting into making Sims 4 Content, or at the very least refreshing my knowledge of 3D modeling from college.
I'm curious if there is such a thing as item templates for things that have a uniformed shape and size for Sims to interact with, Such as chairs.
They obviously have a standardized size, specifically the seating height. The same goes for Counters - there is a standard size in order for the height to work with the Sim's animations.
Or even the oven hoods! (The CC item I'm actually choosing to make first) They have a standard size, and for the ones that go to the ceiling, they obviously must fit within the wall heights without going through the ceiling.
My question is - is there any template or any.. standard that CC makers reference for this sort of thing? Or do you all just pull into models from the game and work to make your objects fit those?
Thank you for your time and for all the work you've done. I've enjoyed plently of CC in my game, and I credit Sims4Studio with reinvigorating my interest in 3D modeling.

If you have TS4 and have S4Studio installed, you can extract pretty much any mesh from the game. These have standard heights and sizes.
For making new meshes, you should extract the original meshes and try your best to work around the originals so the placement, shape and/or size is roughly the same. Otherwise it may look a bit strange ingame. You are going to need to extract files from the game to copy over information. I suggest you have a look at some tutorials, because it's not just "make a mesh and a texture and you're done" - there's a few more steps involved.
Simple (non-animated) items like chairs, tables, deco and such are relatively simple to deal with. A few objects may need additional know-how, especially animated objects. Again, you'll want to find a tutorial on this (I don't know of any as of yet - haven't done this in TS4 but know a bit from TS2 without it helping much...)

Thank you, Simmerish20! That's what I had thought most modders did. I just wasn't sure if there was sort of template that gave that info that molders used as many make beautiful objects that fit in flawlessly. That's what I shall do!
