Make sure you haven't at any point removed doubles or done anything of the sort between the front and back layers. This would cause the front and back layers to be attached to each other, which will cause normal issues. They're supposed to stay separated. When you move them between programs, also make sure there aren't any automatic settings on that does this, either. The OBJ export if that's what you're using can do a lot of weird things to meshes, so you'll want to make sure you use the proper settings. I tend to stick to these in Blender: i.postimg.cc/d0bRhWRH/Screenshot-New-159a.jpgIn 3DMax I don't think there were any particular export settings that I remember, but I could be mistaken (been a long time since I used it and I can't check). Layers in a group need to be separated so they don't share the same vertices. you can NOT always do the internal edge splits or smoothing groups (or whatever they're called) and expect them to work in other programs. I've burned myself on those a lot of times. All layers and/or groups you want to be separated need to have fully separated vertices/edges so you can fully select and pick apart each piece. That also goes for front/back layers. If edges, corners or polys/faces share vertices between the front/back layer, you'll end up with normal issues on export. There aren't any particular ones in Milkshape, but make sure "AutoSmooth" under Groups is unticked before you import/export anything! Otherwise you will get strange normal issues like the ones in your picture. You do need to make sure the fromt/back layers are separated, or you get normal issues (but you usually see when they're not separated).

I think I messed something up when I created the backfaces. I will need to start again. That will be a minimum of 4 hours of extra and repetitive work. I wanna cry. Seriously. Thanks for the support, Simmerish, I will update the post as soon as I do the changes.

Hello! I remade the backfaces using another technique and then imported to STUDIO just for testing. No normal problems this time. Now I need to start the tedious work I did in the first version. Conclusion: if you mess something up with your backfaces, you'll get unfixable normal problems like mine.

The Sims 4 shades everything as smooth, sharp edges included unless they are split. If they are not split, this dark shadow along the edge loop appears.
During import in s4s, the mesh is split along uv island borders which is enough to remove these shadows, unless the angle is low ( like, below 90 degrees, maybe a bit more). The angle between the strands in places where they are connected is very low, so you'll need to split it yourself
The difference:
The first pic is how S4S and TS4 shade edges when the mesh is split The second pic is how S4S and TS4 shade edges when only the uvs are split but not the mesh
The solution is very simple: - select one edge marked as sharp ( the blue one ); - Select - Select similar - Sharpness; - Mesh - Edges - Edge split
