hi I am having a hard time exporting my uv map layout from blender. I do everything right but when i try to import the .png into pixlr, gimp, or any other editing software it says it can't open the file. If I import the texture onto the mesh first the little box is just white and if I try to export the studio crashes! Please help!!!

Is this your first time exporting an UV from blender or have you done this before without running into this issue? Try to open the exported image in your files before importing it into any software and check if it works that way.

When I try to export the UV layout and open the file it just says file cannot be opened because it is empty. If I export the image from blender the uv grid thing shows up but my mesh layout map thing is not there at all!

Hi. I'm not sure if I understood you right so I'm just going to give step-by-step instructions and you check if you missed something:
To export a uv layout: - in 3d view press A to select everything, if all uvs are not highlighted with orange in UV editor, select them with A as well; - in UV editor go to UVs - Export UV layout; - choose png format and set resolution to 1024x2048 or 2048x4096.
To save the baked image: - in UV editor choose Image - Save as Image; - choose png.

I tried that and when I export it I just get a blank map as an image or I get any empty png file. I have tried everything I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

no, you need to upload the file on a sharing website and give us a link. If you have a google account, you can upload it on google disk
