If I export a model that comes from a DLC pack to create a new model, do you have to own that DLC for the new model to work?
Can you make many different items from the same model? Like export the same table to create multiple new table models? The reason I ask this is because I already tried doing that and it only showed one of the mods in game and if that's the case, then wouldnt my mods possibly not be compatible with others if they used the same exported models?

First question - yes, most likely. You can however export all the resources, and then use a basegame mesh for the base file to work with, which should give you a basegame compatible file (in theory, anyway - depends on which object you're making. If there's added functionality, you'll often want to use the DLC item). Second question - you need to clone the item as many times as you need new meshes, but you can make as many clones as you want from the same base item (for instance the same table, couch, plant, deco item or hair in the catalog). Make sure you use the "Create 3D mesh" option each time, and it's often safest to use a basegame item if you're making something basic that doesn't need a DLC function. Also, clone an item with the function you want (Clone a chair if you're making a chair, and clone a lamp if you're making a lamp, or you're stuck with a lot of problems to solve).
You can NOT copy a cloned file and use it as a standalone file. It has to be a new cloned file to be standalone.

Thanks, I'll have to do some more testing with the DLC thing.
So I can clone the same base game item, say a specific chair, I can make as many new items as I want from the base game item?

I'm still having a hard time understanding what each of these options do. I thought I figured it out, but I ran into problems so I'm thinking I still don't understand.

Standalone recolor = recolor (but different slot than original item)
Create 3D Mesh = Make a new mesh
Override = Default replacement item
Selective clone = Similar to create mesh, but with some options you can turn on and off, for instance if you want to import all the swatches or if you want to make a "repositoried" mesh. Best used if you have a reason to use it.

So if I'm wanting to create lots of new models, I would want to use "Create a 3D Mesh", and I can use this option on the same base game item every time I want to create a new item?
Can there only be 1 standalone recolor from a base game item?
Is there a way to see what model i used to create a new mesh after i've made it?

First questions - basically, yes. Just make sure you use the right type of item, and you're good. ... There can be several standalone recolors of the same basegame item, as in you can use the option on the same item several times - but it does make several new slots in the menu. If you want to save space or are making a lot of recolors of the same item, use the same recolor file and instead add new swatches. It creates less clutter. * If I'm adding recolors to a CC item purely for my own use, I sometimes add them directly to the mesh instead of making a new recolor, just so I don't get the extra slot in the menu. Not for uploading, but just a tip for gameplay. .... For objects (most of them, anyway) You can see which model you used in the Warehouse tab under Data, click "Object Definition" to the left, then look at the name of the object in the "Object Definition Resource" (at the top). It'll say your creator name then the name of the object you used, then some numbers. For CAS items (most of them) Click one of the swatches, look for "CASPartResource" to the right under Data.
You'll only see the name of the item, but it should be searchable in the mesh/recolor choosing screens.
This method may not work 100% if cloned from a CC item, though.
