I'm trying to achieve the matte look similar to this: To my understanding, darker colors should have less shine, right? But I still feel like my dresser is too shiny. What color would you recommend this specular be?

What do I do if I don't have a program that does alpha channels like that? I have an old version of Photoshop Elements, and it doesn't do that, so I usually just guess the color. I don't have money to get anything better.

You can get Gimp, it's free
or you can create a mask for a layer and save the file as png, but i do not know if this feature exist in the older version of photoshop

It doesn't have a mask feature. Elements is like Photoshop if you took half the good tools out. :/ Do I have to download Gimp? I'd really hate to sacrifice more space on my computer...
