I'm running into this issue where I want to recolor lipsticks and face paints, etc -- but no matter what I do (create CAS standalone, add new swatch, override, etc.) the package is just..... blank. There's no diffuse, shadow, or specular to work with. It's incredibly frustrating. How can I access these textures so I can make my own recolors of them?

No dice, unfortunately -- they're still blank!

Unfortunately certain makeup now uses a yet to be decoded texture format, LRLE. If you're up to it, some work is going to be involved to recolor one. Take note, this only applies to makeup before the MAC makeup update. Better solution below: sims4studio.com/post/150663/threadOriginal post: 2. Create an "Override" .package of your desired makeup. 3. In the CAS Part, under DiffuseMap, change the Group number to 80000000 4. In the CAS Part, copy the I nstance number underneath DiffuseMap. 5. In a separate window of Sims4Studio open the HD .packages one by one looking for the RLE2 image with the same Instance number. 6. Batch Export that RLE2 Image. (This retains the instance number of the image.) 7. Batch Import that image into your override .package. 8. Save. Close all instances of Sims 4 Studio. 9. Copy over your new .package to the Sims 4 Studio Mods folder. Default location: C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods 10. Open Sims 4 Studio again and create CAS as usual using your newly created CC override as the base. Note: Someone seriously should make an override .package for all the changed makeup so people can work with them. But that will take some work. Sims 4 Studio being able to decode LRLE would be preferable, of course.

Thank you SO much! What a pain, wow -- I'm up for the task, but I hope that eventually S4S is able to decode LRLE. I really appreciate you whipping up this little tutorial for me!

Totally disregard my last tutorial since it doesn't work. When you create new CAS .packages in S4S they reference files that are in the base game files. And since they aren't there... They need to be PUT there.
The DiffuseMap and RLE2ImageResource Group both need to be changed from 00000000 to 80000000 for overrides to work properly.
Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Data\Client
2. Open Resource.cfg in the same folder with a text editor. 3. Add the text PackedFile 00_BaseGameMakeupRLE2.package (and/or PackedFile 01_BaseGameToddlerEyebrowsRLE2.package)
after PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild8.package and save. Priority -20 PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild0.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild1.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild2.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild3.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild4.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild5.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild6.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild7.package PackedFile ClientDeltaBuild8.package PackedFile 00_BaseGameMakeupRLE2.package PackedFile 01_BaseGameToddlerEyebrowsRLE2.package
4. Delete the S4Studio_v3.2.sqlite file located at C:\Users\[UserName]\Documents\Sims 4 Studio (This is needed so Sims4Studio will rebuild the Index so it includes the new .package file) 5. Open Sims4Studio and create CAS .package like usual. If there are any I might have missed please tell me. I didn't include eyebrows since I don't think any of them use LRLE images. As noted before, MAC Makeup isn't supported, which is anything labeled with EF23.
Side note a little unrelated to this post: You can actually create default texture overrides of eyes and such without the wrench by putting those .packages into the Client folder and referencing them in the Resource.cfg file.
Personal rant note: LRLE decoding can't come soon enough! They've already changed the skintones to the uncompressed LRLE. No doubt they'll be doing the same to ALL the makeup once the whole skin update comes out. And if that's the kinda base they need for a color slider (Can only speculate that we'll be getting one for skin) hair might be the next to go all LRLE. Plus, it would be nice to use uncompressed textures since .dds creates artifacts. I think this is the reason EA started going this route for makeup.

Hi, I came here for a solution but then read you didn't include eyebrows. The adult and child eyebrows are fine, but the toddler eyebrows are using the LRLE images, so the textures aren't showing up in S4S. Could you update the file, or possibly tell me how to do it myself? Any help would be appreciated. Thank-you!

I got around to updating my post above with the toddler eyebrows in RLE2 format. They can be used to make new CAS Standalone brows. Creating overrides requires the changing of 2 values. See above.

Sorry for the late reply, got caught up with the holidays. Thank-you so much for the updated file. I was able to finish my eyebrow recolors.

For the record, it also looks like it's not going to be long at all now before LRLE is fully solved.

The new version of Studio released today should be able to clone makeup and face paint again and it should work with the CAS color sliders. If there are any items that are still not working, let me know.

That is wonderful Andrew! I was just thinking how much I missed being able to create this content type. Thank you to everyone who figured it out.
